Job Title: Full-Time Youth and Worship Director

Church: West Side Church of the Nazarene Location: Wichita, KS Hours: 40 hours per week

Position Overview:

West Side Church of the Nazarene in Wichita, Kansas, is seeking a passionate and spiritually mature individual to serve as our Youth and Worship Director. This dual role position will lead our middle and high school youth ministries while also overseeing and coordinating all aspects of our worship ministry. The ideal candidate will have a heart for youth, a love for music and worship, and the ability to lead and inspire teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Worship Ministry (Approximately 50% of role):

• Plan and lead music for weekly worship services, including Sunday mornings and special services (e.g., Christmas, Easter, etc.).
• Direct and rehearse with the praise team and instrumentalists.
• Select music that aligns with the church's theological beliefs and enhances the worship experience.
• Coordinate with the pastor and worship team to ensure cohesive worship services.
• Encourage and mentor volunteers and musicians within the congregation.
• Manage and maintain musical equipment and resources.
• Assist with the integration of technology in worship, such as sound systems and multimedia.

Youth Ministry (Approximately 50% of role):

· Implement a Christ-centered youth ministry program for middle and high school students.

· Plan and lead youth group meetings, Bible studies, special events and summer camps.

· Encourage youth participation in worship services, mission opportunities, and church events.

· Provide spiritual guidance, mentorship, and pastoral care to youth and their families.

· Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers to assist with youth ministry activities.

· Communicate regularly with parents, church leadership, and the congregation about youth ministry initiatives.

· Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all youth ministry events.

· Collaborate with church staff and leadership to align youth ministry with the overall vision of the church.

Qualifications & Skills (Worship):

· Strong musical proficiency in vocals and/or instrumentation (piano, guitar).

· Experience leading church music ministry or worship teams.

· Ability to read music.

· Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

· A heart for worship and commitment to spiritual growth.

· Familiarity with a range of worship styles, from traditional hymns to contemporary praise music.

· Ability to work collaboratively with church leadership and volunteers.

· Experience in church ministry or leading a congregation in worship.

· Familiarity with church music software and sound systems.

Qualifications (Youth):

· A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to biblical teaching.

· Experience in youth ministry, mentoring, or teaching in a church or faith-based setting preferred.

· Ability to build relationships with young people and create engaging, relevant programming.

· Strong communication and organizational skills.

· Willingness to work within the beliefs and mission of the Church of the Nazarene.

· Ability to pass a background check.
