General Information

Job Title:

7th &; 8th Grade Logic Teacher for the 2026-2027 School Year: The Geneva School

Job Description:

As a mission-driven school, faculty members play a central role in fulfilling our mission. The teacher, in a formational and relational role, models Christ-like behavior within The Geneva School community as he or she studies, re-imagines, and teaches within the Christian liberal arts tradition.
For the 2026 – 2027 school year, we have a full-time, exempt opening for a Logic teacher to 7th and 8th-grade students. This position is hired by, and subject to, the supervision of the Director of the Dialectic School.
Logic Course Description
While all of the courses in the dialectic school (grades 7 & 8) operate according to and
emphasize the liberal art of dialectic, which is a skill of reasoning, our seventh and eighth
graders take stand-alone classes in both formal and informal Logic.
At The Geneva School, Logic is more than just a subject; it empowers individuals to discern truth from falsehood, beauty from superficiality, and wisdom from mere information. These classes explore the building blocks of thought—terms, propositions, and syllogisms—to understand how the mind connects ideas and draws conclusions. Through lively Socratic discussions, collaborative problem-solving, and engaging exercises, students discover the joy of thinking deeply and critically, analyzing real-world arguments from history, literature, and everyday life, learning to identify fallacies and construct arguments that are persuasive and ethical.
Logic uniquely ties together everything the students study, from the history of the ancient Near
East, to pre-algebra to the arts. The aim of the course is for students to be encouraged in their
pursuit of wisdom, as they try with all charity and humility to understand what others have said
and are thus aided in their pursuit of Christ's calling.
