General Information

Job Title:

7th Grade Old Testament Teacher (Part-Time): The Geneva School

Job Description:

For the 2026 – 2027 school year, we have a part-time opening for an Old Testament teacher to 7th-grade students. This position is hired by, and subject to, the supervision of the Director of the Dialectic School.
Old Testament Course Description
The Old Testament is essential for the Christian life and crucial for a proper understanding of God and reality. In it, God reveals the origin of the universe, the dignity of mankind, the depth of sin, and the great love of our heavenly Father for his people. Most importantly, in the Old Testament, God reveals himself and points us toward the coming of Jesus Christ. This course surveys the Old Testament and all of its riches, exploring both its infallible content and its enduring application for today.
Following the Hebrew biblical order (slightly different from our English Bibles), the class moves through the Law, Writings, and Prophets, and explores biblical subjects like canonicity, scriptural authority, God's sovereignty, human responsibility, and others. Students build skills for interpreting biblical texts and for applying those ancient passages to our contemporary lives. Finally, they learn how the Old Testament anticipates and necessitates the New.
