Adults Minister

Job SummaryThe Adults Minister works with the Discipleship Ministries team to champion our Median Adult Ministry and Men's Ministry to lead people to be disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus, primarily through our Small Group ministry.

Essential Functions

1. Ministry Lead for the Median Adult Small Group Division

  • Small Group Purpose: to lead people to be disciples of Jesus who makes disciples of Jesus
  • Small Group Strategy:
    • Connect people to one another and Jesus
    • Equip people through group Bible Study to increase in their obedience of scripture and to increase in their sharing of scripture to the people God has placed around them where they live, worship, work, and go.
    • Send people to serve others so that Jesus is shared and lives are forever changed
  • Starting New Groups by:
    • Knowing the possibilities
    • Enlarging the organization
    • Providing the space and supplies
    • Enlisting and developing the leaders through Leadership Pipeline
    • Going after the people
  • Working with and through the Small Group Coach ministry by:
    • Enlisting and developing new Coaches
    • Providing Huddle training materials for Coaches to use
    • Leading Coaches to accomplish their ministry purpose to
      • Pray weekly for their Small Group Leaders
      • Build Relationships with their Small Group Leaders through
        • meaningful Connection
        • helpful and relevant Communication
        • creating time and effort to Care well
        • being Committed to SG purpose and strategy
      • Help SG Leaders Organize their groups and function through the organized roles
      • Support and Lead efforts to multiply Small Groups through
        • Recruiting potential leaders to participate in the Leadership Pipeline training process
        • Encouraging and leading existing Small Groups to plant new Small Groups
  • Prepare annual SMART Goals to achieve the above initiatives in cooperation and leadership of the Discipleship Minister.

2. Men's Ministry

  • Ministry Lead for all Men's Small Groups to achieve the above Small Group Purpose, Strategy, New Group initiatives, and Coach initiatives
  • Connect Men to Jesus and one another primarily through
      • Existing Small Group Ministry
      • Midweek Studies
      • Micro-D Groups (alongside members of same Small Group)
  • Connect men in our community to Jesus and our Small Group ministry through
    • Encouraging, and equipping events, conferences, and retreats that point to Jesus and lead into our Small Group ministry efforts
    • Encouraging and equipping weekly Bible Studies and other on-going group meetings that point to Jesus and lead men into our Small Group ministry
  • Send Men to Serve to share Jesus and make Disciples of Jesus
    • Ongoing local Ministry opportunities
    • National and International Mission opportunities
  • Direct the curriculum and leadership training for Hunter Street Men's discipleship groups
  • Assist with any male shepherding needs that develop within our church family and the community
  • Develop, implement, and lead a Men's Leadership team based on the Leadership Pipeline with Coaches and Leaders
  • Prepare annual SMART Goals to achieve the above initiatives in cooperation and leadership of the Discipleship Minister.
  • Prepare and manage Men's Ministry Budget

3. Discipleship Team

  • Midweek support primarily focusing on Men and Median Adult needs
  • Assist with the planning, implementation and execution of the annual Small Group Inspire Gathering
  • Assist with the planning and execution of the annual Small Group Appreciation Gathering
  • Participate fully with Discipleship Team Initiatives and activities as needed
  • Provide evaluation for any shared ministry administrative support staff

4. Other

  • Continue personal development through attending conferences, seminars, workshops in cooperation and leadership of the Discipleship Minister.
  • Participate fully with other church-wide initiatives and activities as needed
  • Participate in ministerial staff functions: attend staff meetings, participate in hospital rotation, "on-call weekend" rotation, and support church wide events
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the senior pastor and executive pastor, and in cooperation with the Hunter Street ministerial staff

Qualifications and Skills

  • Passion to serve on church staff and to support and invest in the ministry of the church
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required, Seminary Master's degree preferred
  • Prior ministry experience
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Skills: computer proficiency, organization, communication, ability to multi-task, proactive thinking
  • Ability to develop new skills and improve existing processes for efficiency
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, email and the ability to learn and utilize the church's web-based software programs (Touch Point, Paycom, Divvy, etc.)
  • Ability to follow up with members and assist with any church-related request
  • Timely with work and work hours

Work Conditions

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hand and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components.
  • Communication skills using the spoken word
  • Ability to see and hear within normal parameters
  • Physical demands of office work, event set ups, and activity prep for high traffic times of Sundays, Wednesday nights, and special events.
  • Physical ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work under stress during peak workload periods
