Overview:

Christ the King Church (PCA) of Louisville, TN (near Knoxville) is seeking an assistant pastor to serve our church. Must be a teaching elder already ordained in the PCA or another NAPARC denomination. We need this pastor to focus on congregational care and personal discipleship while preaching 16-20 times a year. Based on experience, it's possible the call could be to an associate role. And eventually, we would want our assistant to become an associate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Congregational Care

• Meeting with couples and families in their homes on a trimester basis.
• Praying for and with the people in their homes.
• Show hospitality to families in the church.
• Maintain ongoing communication with people in suffering.
• Fellowship with the Saints on Sunday
• Encourage fellowship amongst the flock

Admin

• Clerk the Session
• Provide leadership for the overall shepherding of the flock
• Report to session about congregational matters.

Teaching, etc.

• Exhort the laity to serve the Church
• Serve on presbytery committee and attend presbytery
• Preach 18-20 times a year
• Assist in Worship Leadership
• Teach and lead discussion during second sessions after our potluck meals

COMPENSATION

• Total compensation package: $81-86k based on experience
• Housing allowance; LTD; 8% matching in 403b9 account

Position Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree preferred, but not necessary; TEs usually required to have an MDiv.
• 8+ years of ministry experience in a church context
• Manages his own household well. His wife and children joyfully follow his godly leadership.
• Employment outside of the church should be relatively stable and gainful.
• Be aligned with our views on the following:
• 6-24 Creation
• Post-Millennialism or Optimistic Amillennialism
• Strong reformed political theology (if you hold to a Radical Two Kingdoms view, Pietism, or Pacifism do not apply)
• Young communion (this is not paedo-communion)
• Male Headship in home, church, and civic sphere
• Pro-homeschooling & Christian School Education (We strongly discourage public education for covenant children).
• No stated difference about the second commandment
• Strong Sabbatarian commitment
• 100% Pro-Life

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

• Relational and spiritually mature.
• Organized and able to manage details while keeping a pastor's heart.
• Good communicator & team-player on session.
• Gifted in relationship-building and hospitality.
• Covenantal in theology and practice.
