Forest Hills Baptist Church in Burgaw, North Carolina, is seeking a faithful Assistant Pastor who is passionate about making disciples and investing in the next generation.
Key ResponsibilitiesPreaching and TeachingWeekly Sunday School teaching for adults Sunday morning main worship preaching (7-10 times a year)
Pastoral Role
Shepherding Children's MinistryRegularly available to counsel familiesEquip and train children and youth group leadership team membersDisciple and support parents with school age children
Serving as a member of the Pastoral Leadership TeamIn conjunction with the Lead Pastor, providing general oversight and vision for the spiritual health and direction of the churchEager to support the Lead Pastor's vision and ministry plan
Pastoral CarePartner with Lead Pastor to provide counseling to individuals/familiesRegularly exercise the ministry of presence in all facets of church life
Administration and Event PlanningParticipate in annual budget planning with Stewardship TeamWork with Lead Pastor and staff to review and revise annual ministry planAttending weekly staff meeting and monthly Deacons' MeetingRegularly meeting with Lead Pastor for discipleship and accountabilityDevelop and lead outreach efforts that intentionally connect our church with the surrounding community.
Skills, Qualifications, and Biblical ConvictionsMust possess a genuine profession of faith and clear testimony of salvationCalled to and gifted for pastoral ministry according to I Tim. 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-9An evangelist's heart, passionate to share the hope of the Gospel with the lostAble to clearly teach and communicate God's Word to all ages and demographics, particularly to younger children and youthUtilizes an exegetical approach to sermon prep and deliveryNot shy and willing to be a self-starter that engages with our local schools and sports leaguesSelf-disciplined, motivated character with a servant's heartHolds firmly to core Christian doctrines and convictions, but humble and gracious towards othersTeachable, flexible, and willing to submit to the leadership of the Lead PastorFully in alignment with the BFM 2000In agreement with a complementarian view of pastoral ministryIf married, absolutely committed to wife (and children)Actively guards moral purity and has no abiding struggle with viewing pornographic or other illicit materialsAble to complete and pass a nationally accredited background checkCompensationWhile compensation will vary depending on education, prior experience, and other relevant qualifications, the general salary package will be approximately $70,000 annually.
