SEEKING AN ASSISTANT PASTOR OF CHURCH PLANTING TO PLANT A PCA CHURCH IN LUBBOCK, TX.

In cooperation with the Southwest Church Planting Network and the MNA Committee of North Texas Presbytery, the Session of Providence Presbyterian Church would like to invite you to prayerfully consider a call to the Assistant Pastor of Church Planting in Lubbock, TX.

With a twenty-five-year history and located in the largest city in West Texas, Providence Presbyterian Church is a congregation of approximately three hundred people. In the semi-arid South Plains and a five-hour drive west of the Dallas Metro Plex, Lubbock is the "Hub City" for West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. With a population of approximately 275,000, two major hospitals, and Texas Tech University, Lubbock is poised to become the home of a second PCA church within this growing community.

As the only current PCA church in Lubbock, PPC has seen tremendous growth in the congregation over the last two years— which includes a thriving RUF ministry to Texas Tech University. As a result of our core vision and a desire to see the Kingdom of God expanded in our city, PPC is committed to planting two additional PCA churches in Lubbock over the next decade. The initial church plant will be seeded, supported, and birthed out of our current congregation.

Upon being called by NTP, the ordained church planter will become part of the PPC staff for the duration of one to two years while discerning and developing relationships for a core group within the current congregation. While on staff as Assistant Pastor of Church Planting, oversight and strategic planning will be shared by the Senior Pastor, PPC Session, SWCPN, and the MNA committee of NTP for a proposed launch in one to two years. Additionally, PPC will provide local support, to include office space, financial resources, a core group, strategic planning, and connections to the community as the plant seeks to grow and subsequently particularize. This full-time position for Assistant Pastor of Church Planting includes preaching four times a year at PPC, leading a church planting community group, as well as administration and pastoral visits. Until the launch of the core group, 50% of weekly responsibilities will focus on the pastoral ministry of PPC and 50% on the church planting plan. The Assistant Pastor of Church Planting will work with the Senior Pastor, PPC Session, and the SWCPN network to strategically plan and implement the church plant in Lubbock over a five-year period. Over the first two years of the plan, there will also be additional opportunities to preach and lead worship in PCA churches located within a two-hour radius of Lubbock. Job Description

The Assistant Pastor of Church Planting will raise 33% of his compensation package ($30,000 annually). Southwest Church Planting Network will commit to support of $30,000 annually for two years, with additional prospective commitment once the plant launches. Providence Presbyterian Church will commit to financial support of $30,000 annually for five years. The church plant core group will commit to $60,000 annually after launch, to increase as the mission church grows.
