Assistant Pastor of English Ministry & Youth Discipleship
Job Overview
Church Overview
Ark Mission Church (PCA) is a Christ-centered, gospel-driven church located in Carmichael, California, serving the greater Sacramento area. For nearly 37 years, we have faithfully ministered to our community while cultivating a growing English Ministry for adults and youth. Led by Rev. Wonsik Ha, our mission is to be a flourishing community of Jesus' disciples, bearing the fruit of life.
A Strategic Season of Revitalization
We are currently in a unique and prayerful "Season of Revitalization." Our English Ministry is a close-knit, intimate gathering of a faithful core of "Sages" (a few retirees), a few young families, and several youth parents. Currently, our English Ministry adults and Youth (approx. 10-15 students) worship together in a single, unified Sunday service. We are seeking a shepherd who sees the beauty in this "focused discipleship" environment—a leader who can preach to a multi-generational flock and has the vision to rebuild the English Ministry foundation while deeply nurturing the next generation.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Adult English Ministry: Foundations & Growth
- Word & Worship: Serve as the primary preacher for the unified Sunday English Ministry service. We value expository preaching that applies the Gospel to both the seasoned saint and the young seeker.
- Wednesday Bible Study (Focus on Sages): Lead a mid-week Bible study tailored for our retired members, providing deep spiritual nourishment and shepherding for this foundational group.
- Small Group Support: Prepare and provide age-appropriate materials to help adults apply the Sunday message to their specific life stages.
2. Youth Ministry: Discipleship & Mentorship
- Friday Night Youth: Lead dedicated Friday night meetings for students with age-appropriate, gospel-centered teaching and fellowship.
- Sunday Discipleship: Lead student-focused activities or small groups following the unified Sunday service.
- Curriculum & Resource Development: Provide age-appropriate small group materials for Youth, equipping volunteer teachers and parents to engage with the students.
- Relational Partnership: Collaborate with parents who are conversational in English and eager to support their children's faith journey.
Ministry Expectations
- Primary Language: All ministry is conducted in English. Korean proficiency is not required.
- Communication Context: Our parents and lay leaders are relatively comfortable communicating in English for ministry purposes. A candidate who can communicate the Gospel clearly and simply will thrive here.
- Interdependent Autonomy: The Assistant Pastor works in a "collaborative leadership style" under the Session and Rev. Ha, while maintaining the creative freedom to shape the English Ministry's growth.
- Sustainable Pace: Specific office hours, participation in staff meetings, and administrative boundaries will be clearly defined to ensure a healthy work-life balance.
- Compensation: Commensurate with experience and provided per church personnel policy.

- Demonstrated gifting in preaching, teaching and shepherding.
- Heart for intergenerational ministry, especially with adults and youth.
- Relational, teachable, and collaborative leadership style.
