Description of Organization
Gospel Fellowship Presbyterian Church was formed in 1975 by a group of believers concerned about the increasing theological liberalism in the mainline Presbyterian Church (USA). These founders sought admission into the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), an evangelical and missions-minded denomination committed to the historic Reformed faith. For the name of the church, they chose "Gospel Fellowship," in reference to Philippians 1:3–5: "I thank my God... for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now" (NKJV).
The first pastor of the new congregation, Walter Kenyon, brought with him one of Gospel Fellowship's most enduring ministries, the Christian Recreation Program. Founded in 1958, it began as a small outreach to neighborhood families in Gibsonia and now reaches hundreds of children in our community every summer.
Through the sacrificial donations of many members and friends, Gospel Fellowship's church building was completed in 1979 and subsequently expanded several times, adding a gymnasium and meeting rooms, and increasing the size of the sanctuary. The 85-acre property on which it sits, also donated, provides ample opportunity for sports and other outdoor ministries.
After 26 years of faithful service, Senior Pastor Nick Protos retired in 2019, and now a new chapter under the leadership of Senior Pastor Matthew Everhard is underway. We are proud of our heritage, and continue to seek to serve God by worshiping him faithfully and fulfilling the Great Commission, as summarized in our mission and vision statements:
Gospel Fellowship Presbyterian Church exists to glorify God through faithful worship, teaching of the Word, and nurturing and equipping people to spread the Gospel.
We desire that "every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:10–11)
