About Our Church & Community

San Francisco Chinese Baptist Church (SFCBC, www.sfcbc.org) is a vibrant, multi-congregational community serving both English and Chinese congregations, dedicated to providing spiritual growth, deep discipleship, and a welcoming home for all generations. As our church evolves, we are experiencing an exciting season of growth among young couples and families. Our English congregation uniquely spans these new households alongside middle-aged and older adults who originally attended during our Chinatown era, a dedicated middle and high school youth group, and a vibrant Children's ministry.

We are prayerfully seeking an Associate Pastor who loves God's Word, models a healthy biblical family life, and is energized to shepherd our rising generation. We seek a leader who will intentionally build bridges to cultivate a shared life together, weaving the wisdom and legacy of our older generations with the energy of the new. By fostering this deep, authentic Christian fellowship across age barriers, this pastor will help us experience the beauty of a truly unified, multigenerational church family.

Responsibilities

PREACHING & TEACHING: Deliver expository sermons in the English and/or Chinese worship services as assigned. Develop sermon themes collaboratively with the Worship Committee.

DISCIPLESHIP & MENTORING: Equip lay leadership and implement intentional, small-group accountability structures to challenge believers toward sustained spiritual maturity.

FAMILY MINISTRY: Proactively address the spiritual needs, marital enrichment, and parenting challenges unique to our growing demographic of young families.

PASTORAL CARE: Provide loving shepherding, counseling, and visitation for members during major life transitions (weddings, funerals, crises). Ensure a warm, intentional connection for newly arriving families.

LEADERSHIP SUPPORT: Work closely with the Senior Pastor, Board of Deacons, and Church Council. Assume Senior Pastor duties during his absence or vacation.

DEMONINATIONAL RELATIONS: Cultivate relationships with Southern Baptist Convention affiliates and external Christian organizations for evangelism and relief efforts.

Qualifications

● A clear testimony of faith, personal holiness, integrity, and a distinct calling to pastoral ministry.

● Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent degree from an accredited seminary.

● Theological alignment with church statements of faith and the Southern Baptist Convention (Baptist Faith and Message).

● Ability to understand or navigate the dynamics of a multi-generational, bi-cultural (English/Chinese) immigrant church environment.

● A strong team player who builds healthy, collaborative relationships with pastoral staff, deacons, and volunteers.
