ASSOCIATE PASTOR OF DISCIPLESHIP & YOUTH The Associate Pastor is a Pastor/Shepherd to give leadership and oversight to two key areas: Discipleship and Youth Ministry. The ideal candidate will have a shepherd's heart for team building and discipleship while having a strong aptitude for organization, instruction, and building ministry structure. He will connect well with youth and will be passionate about helping them be connected to Christ. He will be Biblically oriented and let it be the foundation of His interaction with leaders, staff, youth, and attenders of EEFC. These responsibilities carry different expenditures of time; the majority of the responsibility will fall on the side of discipleship of the church.

Job Description

SPIRITUAL QUALIFICATIONS: – Personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and display a life of growing faith. – Meet the qualifications listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. – Married and have a healthy relationship with his wife (and children if applicable) that is pleasing to God and sets a good example for others. – Marked by grace.

EDUCATION – Minimum Bachelor's degree in biblical studies or related field is desired. – Extensive ministry experience in some cases may be substituted. -Additional seminary education and training toward a ministry degree -The candidate will pursue ministry licensing with the EFCA if he is not previously licensed or ordained.

REQUIREMENTS: – Experience 3 to 5 years in team leadership and discipleship in a pastoral role. – Shepherding a youth ministry creating confidence in those he is leading. -Teaching the Word of God in the Youth Ministry and other settings. -Experienced in preaching and sermon preparation. -Creating organizational structure or tools for ministry. -Understand the basic principles of office management. -Ministry oversight of staff, volunteers, and teams. -Providing the planning, teaching, discipling youth leaders, and coordinating volunteer assistance in the Youth Ministry. -The candidate is to align with the EEFC statement of faith and church constitution. Winsome Spirit: Quick to laugh and truly enjoys life in Christ. This man needs to have a sense of humor and an inviting spirit. 6. Effective Communicator: A good communicator who can handle the Word of God with accuracy and call students & church members to apply it to their lives. 7. Building Relationships: Cultivates personal relationships with fellow leaders, staff, and attenders of the church and is willing to address conflictual situations as an opportunity for spiritual growth. RESPONSIBILITIES:

*CHURCH DISCIPLESHIP (PRIMARY TIME EXPENDITURE)

-Assist Senior Pastor in giving feedback for annual reviews over designated staff members.

-Meet weekly with the Senior Pastor to review ministry objectives and future planning.

-Connect with ministry team leaders for the purpose of discipleship and encouragement.

– Attend Elder Meetings and Elder/Deacon Meetings contributing to ministry discussion.

-Assist in coordinating ministry with the Deacons, ministry leaders, and staff. -Partner in the vision initiatives of the church.

*SR. & JR. HIGH YOUTH MINISTRY:

-Lead weekly Oasis and outreach events.

-Meet regularly with youth leadership team members for discipleship and training.

-Create a yearly youth ministry calendar that provides for spiritual and relational growth. -Provide opportunities for students and leaders to use their gifts to do ministry and service in the life of the church.

– Champion the youth before the congregation and invite them to participate (e.g. prayer, fund-raising, etc.) regularly. – Address present challenges to youth in a biblical and relevant way.

-Commit to creating an atmosphere of fun and joy.

*SHEPHERDING RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Preach at least four times a year in the morning worship service.

– Meet and counsel with the church family as needs arise – Perform weddings and funerals when required.

– Participate in visitation as needed.

Evaluation & Reviews Serves under the leadership of the Senior Pastor The Elder board will be responsible for annually reviewing this position.
