Title: Associate Pastor of Salem Baptist Church
Objectives of Position: The Associate Pastor of Families assists the Senior Pastor with all pastoral duties (especially teaching, preaching, and ordinances) and oversees administrative needs in technology, education, events, community-building, and building maintenance.
Qualifications/Expectations:
- Professing Christian with a consistent testimony and walk of faith
- Commitment to the overall health of Salem Baptist Church through faithful service and membership
- Essential agreement with the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message and the New Hampshire Confession of Faith
- Familiarity with the Church's Constitution and By-Laws and Covenant
- Qualified to be an elder/pastor according to 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-5
- Desire to work with/help equip others for the work of ministry
- Ability to organize and perform regular/routine work and special projects
- Self-motivated, dependable, flexible, and responsible
- Effective administrative and personnel management skills
- Basic understanding of church accounting and financial responsibilities
- Ability to provide clear verbal and written communication with the congregation, staff, and other church officers
- Ability to use computer/technological skills to update the church website and take care of other relevant technological needs
- A graduate degree in general theological/biblical studies is preferred
- Commitment to get to know, love, and lead Salem Baptist Church
Compensation:
Based on education and experience. The package includes Salary + benefits (medical and retirement). Moving costs are negotiable.
Job Description
Lines of Accountability:
Daily supervision for this position lies with the Senior Pastor, recognizing that ultimate accountability is to the congregation and their direct expression, the Elders. Ultimately, it is the Lord Christ we are serving (Col 3:23-24).
Responsibilities:
- Actively oversee the administration of the church (40%)
- Share the shepherding of church members by providing pastoral care through biblical counseling, prayer, visitation, regular hospitality, preaching/teaching, and personal discipling relationships (25%)
- Share in the training of men and future elders (10%)
- Experience in leading music preferred (25%)
- More specific responsibilities related to the candidates' giftings are to be discussed further with interested candidates
