Church Overview
West Side Baptist Church is a growing Southern Baptist church averaging 175–200 in weekly worship attendance, with a student ministry of approximately 30 students. We are seeking a mature, gospel-centered leader to oversee both worship and student ministry while helping fulfill the mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ.
Position Summary
The Associate Pastor of Worship & Students will provide leadership for the worship ministry and oversee all aspects of the student ministry (grades 6–12). This individual will work closely with the Senior Pastor to cultivate Christ-centered worship, disciple students, equip volunteers, and support the overall ministry vision of the church.
Qualifications
- Clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ
- Affirmation of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Baptist Faith & Message 2000
- Clear call to ministry
- Experience leading worship vocally and instrumentally (guitar or piano proficiency preferred)
- Experience with Planning Center and ProPresenter
- Ability to lead students relationally and biblically
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Preferred experience in church ministry leadership
- Ability to pass a background check
Responsibilities
Worship Ministry
- Plan and lead weekly worship services
- Coordinate worship teams, rehearsals, and scheduling
- Develop a blended/contemporary worship culture aligned with the church vision
- Work alongside the Senior Pastor in service planning
- Recruit and disciple worship volunteers
- Oversee sound, media, livestream, and presentation software
Student Ministry
- Lead weekly student gatherings and Bible studies (Wednesday and Sunday nights)
- Disciple students through teaching, mentoring, and relationship-building
- Organize camps, retreats, mission opportunities, and events
- Equip and lead adult volunteers
- Maintain communication with parents
- Encourage students toward evangelism and church involvement
General Expectations
- Support the ministries and vision of the church
- Participate in pastoral care and church outreach
- Fulfill assigned Sunday morning preaching duties on a rotating schedule
- Be active in the life of the church and community
- Maintain a consistent walk with Christ and biblical integrity
