Job Description:
Oak Forest Anglican Church is seeking a called, capable, and Christ-loving man to serve as our next full-time Associate Priest (or Clergy-in-Formation, depending on the candidate's stage of preparation). We are looking for a shepherd — a man whose life, doctrine, and ministry we can gladly commend to our parish and neighborhood, whether the Lord's call keeps him here for a long chapter or uses this season as preparation for future ministry.
The Associate will labor alongside the Rector in the ordinary means of grace — Word, sacrament, and prayer — and in the ordinary work of parish life: preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and forming the volunteer teams that carry the mission of the church.
Position Qualifications:
Above all, we are looking for a man of integrity, one whose household, character, and reputation reflect the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Skills can be sharpened; character is a prerequisite.
Beyond that, our ideal candidate will bring:
- A deep and evident love for Holy Scripture — not only in exegesis but in the older, wider habit of reading Scripture as one whole book that tells one whole story about Christ.
- Sympathy with the Reformed Anglican tradition — the Book of Common Prayer, the 39 Articles, the Homilies, the Jerusalem Declaration, and the ACNA Fundamental Declarations — and a desire to preach and shepherd in that stream.
- A pastoral heart — a settled disposition toward people, patience with the ordinary weeks of parish life, and genuine care for souls across ages and stations.
- Preaching gifts suited to a liturgical, expository congregation.
- A teachable spirit and willingness to be formed under a senior priest.
We are open to three kinds of candidates:
- A currently ordained Anglican priest or deacon looking to serve in a growing parish.
- Anglican clergy-in-formation — a postulant or seminarian preparing for orders in the ACNA or a partner jurisdiction.
- A pastor from outside the Anglican tradition with meaningful pastoral experience who is drawn to Anglicanism and desires to walk through the door of holy orders. We would gladly walk that journey with the right man.

We are a rooted, Reformed Anglican congregation in Northwest Houston, confessing the 39 Articles and the Jerusalem Declaration, and committed to the classical Christian reading of Scripture.
The Associate will assist the Rector in preaching (8–12 sermons per year), pastoral care, and the shepherding of volunteer teams. Full-time; salary commensurate with experience, plus housing and benefits stipend.
