Title: Associate Youth Pastor
Position: Full Time
Accountable to: Youth Pastor
Responsible for: Middle School Youth Ministry & collaboration with all family ministry
Preach and teach with focus on Middle School students (6-8 grade) ● Serve as a Teaching Pastor. Exegetically preach through a section of scripture faithfully over the course of a school year with mentorship from other pastors.
● Create/send out small group questions to small group leaders in advance of youth group.
● Teach middle school Sunday school weekly.
Job Description
Oversee middle school ministry
- Responsible for the middle school portions of weekly youth group nights which includes: hangout time before youth group, assisting with the Wednesday night meal logistics and fellowshiping with students, delivering announcements, running games, teaching, and closing and securing the church building.
- Be the point person for escalated questions, concerns, and issues from parents/youth/volunteers.
- Oversee middle school Sunday school in coordination with the youth pastor, recruit Sunday school teachers and train
- Administration and planning responsibilities. Work with the youth pastor in maintaining the student ministries budget. Develop an assimilation process for incoming 6th graders into youth group.
- Work with youth pastor in planning and execution of summer youth group.
Equip small group leaders
- Recruit gifted volunteers to become small group leaders for youth group and train them.
- Keep small group leaders accountable for investing time with students within and outside of youth ministry programming.
- Support and encourage volunteers on a regular basis.
Communicate with Parents
- Develop resources to effectively encourage parents to disciple their students at home (e.g. family worship ideas, milestone celebrations, etc.)
- Regularly be in communication with parents about the happenings of Calvary Youth, including contributing to the weekly family ministry parent email.
- Coordinating with parents to address problematic student behaviour and work jointly towards their growth.
Coordinate Calvary Youth Events
- Oversee and plan our annual middle school fall retreat.
- Coordinate with the youth pastor to take students to annual apologetic conference.
- Oversee and plan a middle school mission trip.
- Work in coordination with youth pastor for youth and outreach events including student and leader recruitment, finances, supplies, transportation, forms, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's in biblical and theological studies or similar degree program is preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience working or volunteering in youth ministry settings.

- Personal, growing, and mature relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrating a consistent lifestyle and biblical integrity. This is a pastor/elder position, so the candidate must be a man who meets the qualifications of an elder from 1 Tim. 3 and Titus 1.
- Servant-leader: able to teach and guide others while also being ready to ask for help and guidance; possessing a humble attitude and a desire to pursue sanctification in faithful obedience to God's word.
- Agree with and support our Statement of Faith, Mission, Five Core Values, Constitution, and Bylaws.
Giftedness and abilities
- Able to teach God's word in a compelling and age-specific manner. There will be opportunities to learn and grow with the other pastoral staff in this area.
- Ability to relate with people of all ages (youth and adults).
- Ability to recruit, train and supervise qualified youth volunteers.
- Able to prioritize and work independently, delegate when appropriate, and work with a team.
- Ability to take direction and receive feedback.
- Relationally strong and recognizes the importance of people over programs.
- High level of interpersonal communication skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
Hours, Salary, and Reporting
The Associate Youth Pastor role is a full-time position (40+ hours/week). These hours will be distributed throughout the week using Calvary's work hour policy.
Starting salary range: $55,000-60,000 per year (based on experience) plus full benefits.
The Associate Youth Pastor reports to the Youth Pastor.
