Campus Pastor (Hastings)

Job Overview

Peace Church is seeking a full-time Campus Pastor to implement and embody the Peace Church vision in Hastings.

The Lord Jesus gave his church a mission to go and make disciples (Matthew 28:16-20). Peace has a vision to make disciples by multiplying the number of gospel-centered, family-focused, and kingdom-minded churches in the region. Peace intends to plant local campuses that will grow into self-sufficient churches and develop into a family of local churches that share a common DNA. Most importantly, this DNA will include a passion to boldly preach the Word of God.

The Campus Pastor will work alongside other Peace Church leaders to launch a campus in Hastings. The Campus Pastor will lead campus staff and volunteers, execute weekend services, lead other aspects of the campus ministry, and be a champion of the Peace DNA in a new community.

A fitting candidate will have a deep love for Jesus, a love for the beliefs, vision, culture, and people of Peace Church, be humble and teachable, be passionate about bringing the gospel to Hastings, and possess gifts of preaching and leadership.

Peace Church loves the gospel, desires to be faithful to God's Word, seeks to develop leaders, and is passionate about reaching families. Peace is a growing family of churches located just south of Grand Rapids, Michigan in a rapidly growing area. Average Sunday worship attendance is around 3000 across 2 campuses, Peace Middleville (main campus) & Peace Wayland.

Notes & Potential Timeline for the Campus Pastor

*The following notes and dates are tentative, ever-evolving, and subject to change.

Replicating the DNA

We believe God, in His grace, has done something very special at Peace Church. We believe the world needs more churches with the DNA of Peace Church. For this reason, we are crafting a campus/church planting model that will enable us to effectively replicate this DNA and cultivate a family of churches that will help each other retain this core DNA as we do ministry in our various communities.

The Campus Pastor plays an important role in carrying this DNA. For this reason, the Campus Pastor will spend his early months saturating himself in the culture, family, and staff of Peace. He will spend time learning how Peace pastors operate, including how we do leadership and teaching.

The initial conception and first year of the campus life also play an important role in propagating this DNA. For this reason, the campus plant will be a whole team effort, not merely the work of the Campus Pastor with some support given. The Campus Pastor will work closely with other staff leaders to plan and execute ministry. The Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor will provide vision and direction. Peace members, volunteers, and staff will commit to participate in the new campus.

Campus Planting Model

Peace Church intends to plant campuses that will become self-sufficient churches in a timeframe of 3-5 years. Some milestones along the way toward self-sufficiency include: the development of elders, financial independence, development of core members, leaders, volunteers, and staff.

The young campus will focus on doing a few things well, likely hosting only two regular ministry programs to start: Sunday morning worship (including kids ministry during service) and Community Groups. Hastings campus attendees are welcome to participate in other programs hosted at the Middleville campus. Sunday morning worship and Community Groups will follow the established Peace model, including alignment in sermon series schedule and worship sets. Peace pastors will preach on rotation at the Hastings campus alongside the Campus Pastor.
