Teaching/Campus Pastor

A Teaching Pastor of Alice Drive Baptist Church (hereafter ADBC) is responsible for providing leadership, teaching, and direction of the assigned campus in all areas of ministry, fully encouraging and promoting the overall vision of ADBC. The Campus Pastor will provide leadership, grounded in the authority of the Scriptures and revealed under the power of the Holy Spirit, that meets the needs of the staff and the membership of ADBC through sound biblical teaching, encouragement, mentoring, discipline, nurturing, and protecting in accordance with our mission, vision, and values. While serving primarily as the primary Shepherd/Preacher for one specific campus, he will be considered a teaching pastor for the larger church body of ADBC.

Position Specifications:

¨ Meets spiritual qualifications of an elder as outlined by Scripture (1 Tim 3 & Titus 1)

¨ Must be held to the highest standards in areas of personal integrity and doctrinal fidelity.

¨ Has a commitment to abide by ADBC's mission, vision, and values.

¨ Must possess an applicable Bachelor's degree; seminary degree preferred.

¨ An ordained minister of the Gospel or ready to be ordained.

¨ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

¨ Strong Team Player and able to work in collaborative environments.

¨ Must have a proven track record of effective leadership, judgment, and above-reproach character.

¨ Must be a self-starter. Must be able to work with limited supervision.

¨ Must be able to fully embrace ADBC's mission of the whole church ("one church"), which must supersede the preference of "parts".

Expectations for Teaching and Preaching

¨ The Campus Pastor (CP) is the primary preacher on his campus. When ADBC's multi-site model is fully functioning, the CP will preach 35+ weeks on his campus, rotating to other ADBC campuses as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

¨ He will meet weekly with the Teaching Team, preparing for upcoming messages.

¨ He must function well with Lead Team, Teaching Team, other teams as appropriate, the congregation, and the public by treating them with honor and grace.

Expectations for Leadership:

¨ The CP has a key leadership role for both the local campus and the whole church. He is expected to oversee, implement, and execute the total mission/vision/values at his campus.

¨ Responsible for the execution of the long-range strategic plan for the ministry, as initiated by Lead Pastor & LEAD Team.

¨ While the CP contributes to the overall vision of ADBC, he is not responsible for initiating a unique vision for their individual campus outside of the overall vision of ADBC.

¨ Create a growing and thriving campus of ADBC.

¨ He will supervise all full or part-time staff at the assigned location.

¨ Coordinate ministry needs with appropriate teams (Deacons, hospital, homebound, etc.)

¨ Oversee the implementation of the goals, calendars, and budgets of all ministries at the campus.

¨ Oversee volunteer needs, in accordance with central staff standards and strategies.

¨ Empower the congregation to reach the surrounding community with the gospel.

¨ Build relationships and mentor those within the church body.

¨ Direct outreach into the community and work with all-campus events to reach the surrounding community.

¨ CP will have a seat on the strategy team (FUTURE team).

¨ Accept responsibilities as needs arise, primarily reporting to Lead Pastor.

Physical demands (with or without reasonable accommodations):

¨ Light lifting, bending, stooping, climbing, temperature extremes, exposure to the elements, pushing, pulling, twisting, etc., are required on a regular basis.

¨ Lengthy periods at the computer, including repetitive motions.

¨ Ability to apply mental processes. Ability to concentrate.

¨ Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals.

¨ Regular disruptions, ability to deal with critical issues, and emotional individuals. Must be able to maintain control under pressure. Multi-tasking situations will exist, frequently under time constraints or other pressures.

¨ Ability to change and work in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.

¨ Some light travel is required.

¨ Limited exposure to publicly transmitted diseases, such as colds, viruses, etc.
