Job Description: Children's Minister – Part-time

Role: Oak Grove Baptist Church is a vibrant and growing congregation located in Bel Air, MD. Our mission is to celebrate the greatness of God, to learn more about Him, and to better understand His design for our lives. We are actively seeking a part-time Children's Minister. This position is instrumental to the continued growth of our church's ministries by providing leadership, development and oversight of programs serving children (birth through 5th grade) and their families.

The Children's Minister will serve in a part-time capacity (10-15 hours per week) under the leadership of the Lead Pastor and with the assistance of the Children's Ministry Team. Compensation is $13,000 annually. If interested, please email resume to [email protected].

Key responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate and oversee all aspects of the children's ministry including, but not limited to Sunday school, Wednesday night activities, Vacation Bible School, Trunk or Treat, and other events
• Engage children and their families in meaningful, Christ-centered programs and activities tailored to each age group
• Recruit, train and schedule children's ministry partners
• Maintain a current list of ministry partners with contact information
• Work with office to confirm background check records are completed for children's ministry partners
• Maintain an on-going record of attendance for children and ministry partners
• Establish and maintain an informative and welcoming relationship with children's parents
• Organize classrooms and facilitate the cleaning and sanitizing of toys / items to ensure their safety and cleanliness
• Report repair and maintenance needs to appropriate personnel
• Communicate and administer the church's approved policies and procedures for the safety and security of our children.
• Communicate with church leaders and the congregation regarding the purpose, value, and procedures of Children's Ministry.

Qualifications:

• Qualify as cited in 1 Timothy 2:12 and 3:2
• A strong personal relationship with Christ and a commitment to living out a Christ-centered life
• Bachelor's degree in ministry, Education, or a related field is preferred
• Experience in children's ministry or related leadership roles within a church setting preferred
• Be or become a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church or be a member in good standing of a Southern Baptist Church.
• A compassionate and empathetic heart, with a genuine desire to minister to children and families
• A "self-starter", highly organized with a gift for administration and socialization
• Must pass a background check
