Position Summary
The Church Planter in Training (CPIT) is a called and qualified man preparing to plant a healthy, multiplying church. He joins the Redeemer staff in a partial role aligned with his gifting and the church's needs, while completing a structured training pathway designed to prepare him theologically, pastorally, and practically for the work of church planting. The CPIT is fully embedded in the life of Redeemer Church and the Send Network ecosystem, with the expectation that he will be sent out to plant a church at the conclusion of his training.

Redeemer Church believes that mature churches multiply. The CPIT role exists to identify, develop, and deploy church planters from within our congregation and broader network, ensuring that planters are not sent out alone or untested but are deployed from a healthy church family.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Partial Staff Role (approximately 50% of time)
Specific responsibilities will be assigned based on the CPIT's gifting, experience, and Redeemer's current ministry needs. Possible assignments include:
- Pastoral care and shepherding within a defined ministry area
- Preaching and teaching on a rotating basis
- Leading or co-leading a community group
- Assisting with assimilation, leadership development, or membership processes
- Student and/or college ministry
- Equipping volunteers within a designated ministry team
Training Pathway (approximately 50% of time)
- Complete Redeemer's internal planter development
- Participate in Send Network assessment and training milestones
- Complete the Collaborative Church Planter Cohort
- Engage in regular one-on-one coaching with the Lead Pastor or assigned mentor
- Read, write, and present on assigned theological and leadership texts
- Develop a written church planting prospectus (vision, target city, model, funding plan)
- Participate in preaching cohort, including sermon prep coaching and feedback
Family and Personal Formation
- Prioritize the spiritual health of his marriage and family
- Engage his wife in the training process where appropriate
- Pursue personal spiritual disciplines and sabbath rhythms
Qualifications
Theological
- Affirms the Redeemer Church Statement of Faith without reservation
- Demonstrates competence in biblical exposition and theological reasoning
Practical
- Willing to relocate to the Rocky Mount area for the duration of the training
- Willing to be assessed by church and network leaders
- Willing to be sent where the need and opportunity align
- Is living a life that aligns with biblical qualifications of a pastor (1 Tim. 3)
