Foundation Church is seeking a man who senses God's call to pastoral ministry and church planting to serve as a Church Planting Apprentice in Soldotna, Alaska. This is a one-year residency designed to provide hands-on ministry experience, personal discipleship, theological development, and practical training within a healthy local church.
This is not simply a ministry position—it is an opportunity to prepare for a lifetime of gospel ministry.
What You'll Do
As a Church Planting Apprentice, you'll serve alongside the pastors and leaders of Foundation Church in nearly every aspect of ministry, including:
- Sunday worship services and preaching opportunities
- Teaching and discipleship
- Evangelism and community outreach
- Small groups and pastoral care
- Leadership development
- Church administration
- Ministry planning and execution
- Church planting strategy and multiplication
You'll receive regular mentoring, feedback, and leadership development throughout the residency.
Residency Expectations
- Commit to a 12-month residency in Soldotna, Alaska.
- Be an active member of Foundation Church.
- Pursue spiritual growth, humility, and servant leadership.
- Be teachable and willing to receive coaching and evaluation.
- Participate fully in church life and ministry opportunities.
- Maintain a lifestyle consistent with biblical qualifications for ministry.
Compensation
This is a bi-vocational residency.
Because Foundation Church is a young church plant:
- Housing is not provided.
- A full-time salary is not provided.
- Apprentices must secure outside employment to support themselves.
- Foundation Church will provide a modest monthly ministry stipend to assist during the residency.
Applicants should prayerfully consider the financial realities of relocating to Alaska before applying.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
- Demonstrate a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ.
- Sense a call to pastoral ministry, church planting, or church revitalization.
- Meet (or be actively growing toward) the biblical character qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
- Be willing to relocate to Soldotna, Alaska.
- Agree without reservation with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 (BF&M 2000).
- Be committed to the authority and sufficiency of Scripture.
- Possess a humble, teachable spirit and a servant's heart.
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Formal seminary education is appreciated but not required. Character, calling, and teachability matter more than experience.
