Role Summary

Mercy College Residents will help fulfill the vision of growing students into disciples who make disciples through the local church and send them to all nations for the glory of God by connecting college students to the local church, equipping them to make disciple-makers, and mobilizing them to all peoples.

Residency Responsibilities

• Residency Cohort

1. 1. 1. Attending all required residency cohorts (bi-weekly, except during the summer).
      2. Completing all required assignments, readings, and writing assignments.
      3. Working alongside other residents to complete final projects once a semester.

• Support-Raising

1. 1. 1. Maintaining a healthy support raising status
         1. 75% is required to do part-time work with their ministry team.
         2. 90% is required to do full-time work with their ministry team.
      2. Maintaining the relationship with their support team through monthly support updates.

• Development and Discernment

1. 1. Constantly learning and helping lead alongside their direct supervisor in their designated ministry.
   2. Committing to being developed, evaluated, and receiving regular feedback.
   3. Create and regularly update a personal growth plan.

Ministry Track Responsibilities

• Disciple-maker

1. 1. 1. Invest in discipleship groups & student leaders through meeting weekly in organized time.
      2. Invest in discipleship groups & student leaders in "informal" settings.
      3. Live out an evangelistic lifestyle by investing in "unconnected & lost" students.

• Recruiter

1. 1. 1. Recruit & develop student leaders in the discipleship process. 

      2. Recruit to summer projects like City Project, Second City, and 2 year missions.

• Secondary Role

1. 1. 1. Serve our team and the college movement in an area based on your giftings and the needs of the ministry.

• Invested Team Member of Mercy College

1. 1. 1. Team members should be attentive and interactive during all Mercy College meetings.
      2. Plan, facilitate, and participate in events or retreats.

• Church Staff Member

1. 1. Be the visible "college presence" on Sunday Mornings.
   2. Participate in all Mercy staff gatherings (retreats, staff prayer, etc.).

General Expectations

1. A Mercy Church Resident should be teachable and always exhibit professionalism, conscientious work ethic, and accountability. 

2. A Mercy Church Resident needs to be willing and able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, with composure and flexibility. 


Office Hours and Work Schedule

1. The hours for this position are expected to be approximately 40 hours per week. As one church that meets in several locations, there are several times throughout the year that Mercy Church holds church-wide events in order to do whatever it takes to reach all people. All staff members are expected to serve at these church-wide events, regardless of the positions they hold.
   1. Such events include, but are not limited to Easter services, Good Friday services, All-Church-Gathering, and Christmas services. Specific expectations will be communicated in advance of each event.
