Collegiate Minister

Collegiate Minister Location: Huntington, WV Position Overview We are seeking a Faithful Man (25 years of age, or older) to be the Full-Time Collegiate Minister to lead and grow a thriving student ministry at our Church, located two blocks from Marshall University in Huntington, WV. About Us Legacy Church Huntington began as a church plant to serve the students of Marshall University (about 13,000 students). Legacy Church is strategically located two blocks away from Marshall's campus, and right next door to The Village on Sixth Avenue, an apartment complex that houses approximately 800 Marshall Students. Legacy has two major ministries that serve those students. Café Legacy is a fully functioning Coffee Shop with craft espresso drinks in the front of Legacy Church Huntington's building. All drinks are always 100% Free. Admission is strictly limited to college students with proof of Student ID and Church members. This ministry serves over 100 unique students every week, and over 300 Unique students throughout each semester. The Tuesday Table is a collegiate and young professional bible study. This weekly event always starts with a home-cooked meal, prepared by members of our community. Food and Fellowship is followed by a discussion-based bible study. This semester average attendance was about 30, with a reach of 75 unique students over the course of the whole semester. Mission While we have seen much success in both of our College outreach ministries, most of the students attending are already a part of a different congregation. We truly believe that a weekly home-cooked meal and a safe place to study for college students are worthy ministries in themselves, but we know that many students at Marshall are still being unreached by church completely. We would like to unify our efforts to target unchurched students through these ministries in order to grow our congregation on Sunday mornings. The major missing component is a presence on campus. The Faithful Man hired for this position would be on campus to engage students and invite them to these ministries, and ultimately to Church on Sunday mornings. Responsibilities Evangelism & Outreach ● Conduct outreach on campus (Tabling, Networking Events, Dining Halls, Rec) ● Build relationships with students during Café Legacy hours ● Lead weekly college gathering "The Table" ● Identify and engage unchurched students ● Initiate Formal Discipleship with Young Adults ● Special Event Coordination (Bonfires, Tailgates, Game-Nights, Trips, etc.) Sunday Service ● Assist in pastoral responsibilities as needed, including preaching once monthly ● Help with Logistical Aspects of running the service What Success Looks Like ● Growth in attendance at Café Legacy, The Table, and Sunday services ● Increased engagement with unchurched students ● Development of student leaders Qualifications & Characteristics ● 25 Years of Age or Older ● Experience in College Ministry Outreach ● Passionate about reaching college students ● Relational, outgoing, and highly approachable ● A strong communicator and teacher ● Driven to overcome challenges ● Preferred but not required: Seminary Study Compensation & Structure Starting Compensation: $50,000/year (increased with ministry growth) *Some benefits provided, as necessary*
