The Director of Children's Ministry will have a heart for leading children to a relationship with Jesus, serving children & families, and outreach to our community. The director will facilitate discipleship opportunities that connect children, volunteers, and families to help build deeper fellowship with other believers within the mission and vision of Weems Creek Church.
Church Description
Weems Creek is a multigenerational church committed to authentic, healthy relationships that connect people with God and each other. Our worship style is a progressive blend of modern worship songs and hymns that have stood the test of time. Our weekly attendance is around 250 people. We have a worship center that seats up to 400 people. The church is financially sound. We are located in Annapolis, MD, a wonderful place to live. Annapolis is the capital of Maryland and home to the United States Naval Academy.
Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
- Pray regularly for the church, our staff, and the children/families at Weems Creek
- Oversee all ministry to children from birth through 5th grade
- Order and implement Bible-centered curriculum for Sunday morning teaching
- Order general use supplies
- Develop and oversee special event programming including Vacation Bible School
- Recruit quality volunteers utilizing volunteer applications and background checks
- Implement volunteer training & development, volunteer appreciation
- Utilize Planning Center for all volunteer scheduling
- Assist with creative ways to engage the church with children's ministry using various methods of communication, promotion, and social media
- Communicate the church's approved child safety policies
- Work in coordination with pastoral staff and attend weekly meetings
- Create and maintain the children's ministry budget
- Participate in training opportunities through BCMD
Allocation of Work Hours: (20 hrs/week)
- Administrative: ordering supplies, volunteer scheduling, budget management, policy updates, reviewing and approving Children's Ministry volunteer applications, running background checks – 6 hours/week
- Direct Ministry: planning/implementing special events – 6 hours/week
- Sunday Morning Preparation: make sure rooms and volunteers are ready to receive children, opening and closing the children's ministry wing, connect with families at church – 3 hours/week
- Vision Planning: weekly meetings with staff, meetings with volunteers and other church leadership, developing and planning future events and outreach in coordination with other ministries, training opportunities – 5 hours/week
