Job Overview

The Director of Musical Worship (DMW) utilizes his spiritual gifts and God-given abilities to lead the church in corporate worship and support the ministry of the Elders and Senior Pastor. The DMW supports the mission of West Hills Church to make disciples who reach all of St. Louis and beyond with the good news of Jesus Christ. The Director of Worship reports directly to the Senior Pastor.

The Director of Musical Worship leads the congregation in worship through music, prayer, Scripture reading, and service planning. He maintains a humble, teachable spirit and works collaboratively with church staff, elders, and volunteers to cultivate meaningful, Christ-centered worship gatherings.

Primary Responsibilities

Worship Leadership

• Lead corporate worship on Sundays.
• Plan worship services in collaboration with the Senior Pastor.
• Select songs and coordinate worship elements that support the preaching and overall service theme.
• Lead rehearsals and prepare worship teams for Sunday gatherings.
• Assist in planning and leading worship for special gatherings such as Easter, Christmas, prayer services, and other church-wide events.

Worship Team Development

• Recruit, train, schedule, and shepherd worship ministry volunteers.
• Foster a culture of spiritual growth, excellence, and encouragement among team members.
• Identify and develop emerging leaders and musicians.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Utilize Planning Center for worship planning and scheduling.
• Maintain worship ministry resources and equipment.
• Assist with worship-related budgeting as needed.

Qualifications

• Steady and growing walk with Jesus Christ.
• Demonstrated character consistent with biblical leadership.
• Musical competency and experience leading congregational worship.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers.
• Agreement with West Hills Church's mission, values, and Statement of Faith.
• Covenants with West Hills Church in membership.
