Position Overview
The Director of Musical Worship and Media (DMM) utilizes his spiritual gifts and God-given abilities to lead the church in worship and to support the Elders and the Senior Pastor. The DMM supports the mission of our church to make disciples who reach of all St. Louis and beyond with the good news of Jesus. The DMM reports directly to the Senior Pastor.
The DMM leads the congregation in corporate worship through prayer, music, and Scripture reading. The DMM maintains a humble, teachable spirit and adapts to the changing needs of our congregation as determined by the Elders. The role may change over time, given the development of new ministry opportunities and critical tasks.
The DMM brings a cheerful attitude and offers a cooperative approach to the church staff, Senior Pastor, the Elders, and volunteers. The DMM serves the church by facilitating musical worship, leading and building worship teams, and overseeing audio-visual and media aspects of worship and outreach. The DMM demonstrates an aptitude for organization and excellence.

Primary Responsibilities
- Leadership: Can build teams and train leaders. Leads with care for all involved in worship ministry and other church members, as assigned by the Elders. Enjoys working with people, on a staff team and with volunteers, and serving in other ministry areas for the sake of the gospel and the good of the church.
- Musical Worship: Plans weekly Sunday worship with the Senior Pastor and leads corporate worship on most Sundays (eg, speaking, praying, reading Scripture). Oversees all musical efforts for the ministries of West Hills.
- Worship team: Demonstrates a joyful heart for leading corporate worship. Recruits, trains, and oversees worship team volunteers for all ministries of the church. Plans regular worship team rehearsals to ensure appropriate levels of preparation. Ensures musical and technical excellence for worship team members and corporate worship. Communicates with and encourages the team constantly.
- A/V team: Oversees a/v team volunteers and technical aspects of worship, such as the auditorium, music rooms, sound system, lights, Planning Center, ProPresenter, printed worship guides, and livestream. Manages related ministry budgets, effectively problem-solves, and makes ongoing improvements.
- Outreach/Media: Oversees the church's digital presence through the website, social media platforms, podcasts, email communications, and other online resources. Creates and coordinates content that promotes church ministries, events, outreach efforts, and discipleship opportunities. Produces or oversees media resources, including graphics, promotional videos, and bumper videos for worship services and special events. Recruits, trains, and supports volunteers serving in media and communications ministries. Plans and coordinates worship services for Easter, Christmas, and other special worship gatherings in collaboration with pastoral staff and volunteers, ensuring that all communication and media efforts effectively support the church's mission and ministry objectives.
Qualifications:
- Steady, growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is characterized by genuine love for God and people, and fueled by regular time in God's Word and prayer.
- All traits of a pastor-elder as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:2-7 and Titus 1:6-9 ("above reproach...").
- A joyful, enthusiastic, humble, hard-working, servant-hearted team player with an encouraging, godly presence.
- Talented musically, with a commitment to excellence in ministry.
- Good, comfortable people and communication skills.
- Willingness to serve the body as needed or requested.
- Punctual, organized, and administratively competent.
- Full agreement with West Hills' Statement of Faith and stated mission.
