Job Overview
The Director of Musical Worship and Youth (DMY) partners closely with the Senior Pastor and elders to advance the mission and vision of West Hills Church. His primary responsibilities include overseeing the church's corporate music ministry and leading Student Ministries (grades 6–12).
The DMY will provide vision, leadership, and hands-on shepherding for students and volunteers, cultivate a culture of discipleship, support parents, and help students become fully integrated into the life and mission of the church. He will also lead the congregation in corporate worship and oversee the development of worship teams that serve the church with excellence, humility, and Christ-centered devotion.
The DMY supports the mission of our church to make disciples who reach of all St. Louis and beyond with the good news of Jesus. The DMM reports directly to the Senior Pastor.

Primary Responsibilities
Worship Ministry
- Lead the congregation in corporate worship through music, prayer, Scripture reading, and service leadership.
- Plan weekly worship services in collaboration with the Senior Pastor.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and shepherd worship team volunteers.
- Coordinate regular rehearsals and ensure appropriate preparation for worship gatherings.
- Foster a culture of joyful, Christ-centered worship that serves the congregation and supports the preaching of God's Word.
- Provide leadership for worship during Easter, Christmas, and other special services and events.
- Oversee worship ministry budgets, equipment, and resources.
Audio/Visual & Production
- Oversee audio, visual, presentation, and livestream systems used in worship gatherings.
- Lead and support A/V volunteers and technical teams.
- Manage Planning Center, ProPresenter, and other worship-related software systems.
- Ensure equipment is maintained and functioning properly.
- Recommend improvements to systems and processes that support worship ministries.
Youth Ministry
- Lead and oversee the church's student ministry (grades 6–12).
- Provide primary teaching and discipleship leadership within all student ministry environments.
- Equip, train, and shepherd youth volunteers and small group leaders.
- Cultivate a culture of discipleship in which students and families are maturing and being mobilized in their faith.
- Build pathways that connect students to opportunities in church membership, service, leadership, and discipleship.
- Provide pastoral care and spiritual encouragement to students and parents.
- Plan and oversee retreats, camps, conferences, service projects, and special events.
Qualifications
Spiritual Qualifications
- Confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Meets the character qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:6–9.
- Demonstrates Christian maturity and a growing relationship with Christ through prayer, Scripture, and active participation in the local church.
- Agrees with and supports West Hills Church's Statement of Faith, mission, and biblical ethics.
- Willing to become and remain a covenant member of West Hills Church.
Ministry Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of ministry experience (5 years preferred).
- Experience leading student ministries and volunteer teams.
- Experience leading corporate worship and worship teams.
- Demonstrates musical competency and the ability to lead congregational worship.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Able to recruit, train, and develop volunteer leaders.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work effectively within a staff team.
