Director of Student Ministries

Job Description: To lead and develop the student ministry of Dan River Church in a way that creates Christ followers who love God and love people.

Core Responsibilities:
• Plan and direct the student ministry of DRC. (6th – 12th grade students)
• Lead and develop the weekly gatherings and special events (small groups, DNOW, camp, mission trips, etc.)
• Create an environment where all students feel welcomed, loved, and known.
• Recruit, coach, and train volunteers to grow and participate in the student ministry.
• Support and collaborate with parents to provide resources for family discipleship.
• Work with the Family Ministries Director in developing a cohesive family ministry plan.
• Create and oversee the student ministry budget.
• Lead in the spiritual care of students and/or families.

Expectations and Requirements:
• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ. Demonstrated through a growing relationship in prayer, time with God, and personal worship.
• A commitment to purity and integrity.
• A lifestyle that expresses the Fruit of the Spirit as mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23.
• Positive attitude: joyful, teachable, and humble.
• Ability to lead/manage teams, other employees, and build relationships with people.
• Hold firm to the doctrinal beliefs of Dan River Church (and Thomas Road Baptist Church)
• Become a member of Dan River Church and all leadership responsibilities.
• Other Expectations: Participate in church-wide outreach events; 1-2 times a year lead a student "SERVE" day; lead and/or participate in a life group; meet with "walk-in's" if needed.

Experiences and Preferences:
• Minimum two years' experience leading students in a church setting.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Computer experience and knowledge, social media awareness, pro presenter, etc.
• Self-starter – willing to take initiative to grow personally and professionally.
• Called to the local church.
