Job Description:
What we need: God has positioned us well for the next years of youth ministry. Over 20 youth and over 60 children call Zion home. We have dedicated volunteers and engaged parents. We need a passionate, consistent leader to assist in advancing a Christ-centered youth ministry at Zion.
The Pastor of Youth and Family Ministries at Zion must have a passion for equipping youth, children, and their parents to be transformed by the Gospel and poured out for others. He will consistently point youth to Jesus through engaging teaching. He will be in tune with youth culture and will connect with students throughout the week at events and for discipleship. The candidate will be excited to grow together alongside a pastoral team.
Where you are gifted: • Teaching Christ-centered, Gospel-motivated lessons. • Discipling youth toward maturity in Christ. • Gathering youth through well-planned events that create belonging.
Ministry Responsibilities: Youth (30 hours per week): • Lead weekly youth group and Sunday School. Teach engaging Bible studies and lessons tailored to youth. • Develop, promote, and coordinate a balanced program of activities and discipleship ministry to youth. • Seek out opportunities to build connections with youth at school and sports events, and in the community by meeting weekly with students. • Prepare and lead youth retreats and mission trips annually. • Build relationships with parents and families of the youth within the church and Lincoln community. • Recruit and train volunteer leaders, including youth, to assist with the ministry.
Family Ministries (5 hours per week): • Alongside the children's team, develop and coordinate family ministry events including Pray For Me, summer events, Summer and Fall Kickoffs, and other events as needed.
Pastoral (5 hours per week): • If ordained: general pastoral duties including preaching, leading in worship, and shepherding. • If in seminary: devote time during the week to studies and classes.
Position Qualifications:
Qualifications: • Ideally 2 years of experience in youth ministry as a key leader. • Alignment with Zion's theology and mission. • Professing Christian with evidence of ongoing spiritual growth. • Bachelor's degree required; graduate of a reformed seminary with a Master of Divinity degree (completed or in progress) preferred. • The ideal candidate will be ordained in the PCA or on a path toward ordination.
Compensation: • $60,000-$70,000 salary based on experience and ordination. A portion of salary can be allocated for seminary tuition. • Benefits include retirement contributions, health and dental benefits, life and disability insurance, reimbursement of ministry expenses, and paid vacation (and study leave if ordained).
