Evangelism Intern (Seminarian): The Boardwalk Chapel (Presbytery of New Jersey & Puerto Rico, OPC)

Job Description:

This full-time paid summer internship is designed to strengthen future ministers in the area of evangelism. The internship includes training and mentorship for the intern from ordained ministers and experienced evangelists, with opportunity to gain much experience in personal evangelism and preaching as well as other aspects of evangelistic and pastoral ministry. Responsibilities and mentored experiences of an evangelism intern include:

• Preaching short Gospel sermonettes (1-4 per week) in nightly programs
• Personal Evangelism on the Boardwalk (daily)
• Preaching in the local church on the Lord's Day (1-6 Sundays depending on interest)
• Leading Lord's Day Evening Worship (weekly)
• Leading/Encouraging high school and college students and other church members in evangelism
• Providing spiritual leadership to the summer staff (largely college-age)
• Additional opportunities (based on the interest and gifting of the interns) include: teaching, administrative tasks, helping with local evangelistic outreaches (e.g. weekly VBS, evangelism to people with intellectual disabilities, international student outreach), door-to-door evangelism, street preaching, etc.

Dates: May 26 – August 29

Compensation: $3000 plus room & board

Position Qualifications:

Position is for seminarian students or those with some seminary training. Prior training or experience in evangelism is helpful but not required. Extensive training and mentorship will be provided.
