The Executive Director serves as the primary organizational leader of Fieldstone Counseling, providing strategic direction to advance its mission and vision. They supervise Fieldstone's directors, lead the organization's culture, and steward its overall health. They also cultivate key church, ministry, donor, and movement relationships and serve as a primary public representative of Fieldstone.
Job Description
Duties 1. Organizational Vision, Leadership, and Governance
- Vision Casting: Lead Fieldstone Counseling with personal and biblical integrity and gospel-centered values, ensuring ongoing faithfulness to Fieldstone's core theological commitments, mission, and vision.
- Organizational Health, Stability & Growth: Provide leadership that promotes organizational health, cultural stability, and sustainable growth, with a focus on building scalable systems for the future while safeguarding Fieldstone's distinct, Christ-centered, biblically-based, and clinically informed identity.
- Governance: Supervise the Fieldstone Directors, ensuring organizational alignment, collaborating and empowering leaders to effectively manage their respective areas of responsibility.
- Leadership Team: Lead and direct the Fieldstone Leadership Team by establishing priorities, organizing its activities and meetings, and guiding communication, collaboration, and decision-making among its members.
- Human Resources: Supervise the Human Resources Manager and offer oversight for the organization's HR functions. Executive Director maintains final accountability for employment policies, risk mitigation, and team alignment with Fieldstone's values.
- Board Partnership: Serve as the primary liaison between the Fieldstone team and the Board of Directors, fostering effective communication, alignment, accountability, and partnership between organizational leadership and the Board.
2. Team Leadership and Culture
- Team Leadership and Communication: Lead and direct organization-wide team gatherings and retreats. Teaching and intentionally fostering organizational alignment with the FC Cultural Values and effective execution of organizational priorities.
- Culture: Intentionally cultivate an organizational culture of humility, unity, mutual care, and support guided by Fieldstone's Cultural Values, ensuring that team members feel valued, heard, and supported.
- Counseling Alignment: Provide strategic leadership for contract counselors in partnership with the Director of Operations, supporting alignment with Fieldstone's counseling philosophy and methodology and providing guidance on complex counseling dynamics as appropriate.
- Active Ministry: Maintain an active counseling and consultation practice consistent with organizational needs and personal capacity.
3. Financial Stewardship and Stability
- Financial Stewardship: Provide executive leadership for the organization's financial sustainability, ensuring that financial decisions, priorities, and resources align with Fieldstone's mission, direction, and long-term health. Maintain executive accountability for financial stewardship while partnering with the Director of Finance in the development, monitoring, and execution of the organization's financial plans and systems.
- Church Partnerships: Provide executive leadership and support for Fieldstone's church and ministry partnerships, working in concert with the Director of Partnership to cultivate relationships, strengthen key partnerships, and advance opportunities that align with Fieldstone's mission and long-term growth.
- Donor Stewardship: Lead in donor stewardship and development, cultivating meaningful relationships with key financial partners. Build the foundation for a sustainable development function, including strategies, systems, and processes. Provide leadership for the annual Fieldstone Fundraiser and other fundraising efforts.
4. Movement Representation and Public Voice
- Movement Relationships: Cultivate relationships and collaborative networks with biblical counseling leaders, counseling center directors, seminaries, broader church networks and ministry leaders.
- National Advisory Board: Maintain strong relationships with Fieldstone's National and Pastoral Advisory Board members, seeking their counsel and maintaining Fieldstone's engagement and credibility within the broader biblical counseling movement.
- Public Representation: Serve as a primary public representative and voice for Fieldstone Counseling, communicating its mission, values, and perspective through speaking, writing, and other external platforms as opportunities arise.
