Executive Director/Treasurer
The Executive Director of the Convention is the chief executive for the convention. He casts a compelling vision for cooperation while leading the staff to accomplish their mission. He fiscally stewards convention resources responsibly, ensuring the highest levels of accountability and recordkeeping. He champions Nevada Baptists and promotes cooperation broadly. He is a pastor to pastors seeking to serve and encourage while also motivating and challenging them to make disciples and fulfill the Great Commission, in Nevada and across the world.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO)
● As the chief executive, he will oversee the staff as they plan, communicate, and implement his vision to strengthen convention churches. He will develop and maintain an effective organization, ensuring good staff relationships between capable people who are trained to be effective in their roles.
● He will coordinate plans and programs designed to strengthen the work done by individual churches, revitalize existing churches, and plant new churches.
● He will serve as principal staff advisor to, and ex-officio member of, the Executive Board and its committees.
● He will maintain the file and care of all convention documents, papers, Bylaws, Constitution, and records.
● He will Possess the right, under delegated authority, to sign and attest to all documents, contracts, and other instruments of the Convention, and to cause to be published the annual of the Convention.
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO)
● As chief financial officer, he will maintain appropriate records and guard the effective use of Conventions funds, assets, and securities, providing administrative control overall financial and accounting activities.
● He will establish, control, and administer the maintenance of an effective system of accounting and auditing, to guard the effective use of convention funds, assets, and securities as they are utilized to accomplish short and long-term Kingdom objectives in Nevada.
● He will develop, recommend, and administer approved financial policies, plans, and programs, within the guidelines of the annual budget, maintaining custody and control of all cash funds, assets, and securities.
CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (CDO)
● As the chief development officer, he will represent the Convention, building relationships, partnerships, and championing cooperation broadly.
● He will formulate the best means for working with denominational missions' entities, seminaries, fellowships, associations, and groups that achieve the stated mission of the Executive Board and the Nevada Baptist Convention.
● He will actively visit Nevada churches seeking to serve, resource, and encourage church leaders.
REQUIREMENTS– CHARACTER, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
● He will be a man with demonstrated Christian character as qualified in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. He is Christian and Churchman who is effectively leading his home.
● He has a ministerial calling that is clear and compelling.
● He is a committed Southern Baptist with a strong commitment to the Great Commission, the Cooperative Program, and a track record of cultivating denominational relationships.
● Masters in Divinity required; DMin or PhD preferred.
● Requires knowledge of business, finances, human resources, and technology.
● Requires the ability to accurately account for expenditures and receipts.
● Requires exceptional administrative skills, including the ability to supervise, monitor, evaluate and provide feedback to staff.
● Requires the ability to listen effectively and to communicate clearly.
● Requires the ability to preach and speak confidently before groups.
● Requires commitment to biblical Christian principles and The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 both professionally and personally.
● Requires discretion and confidentiality.
● Requires passing criminal, financial and sexual misconduct background checks.
● Requires compliance with applicable federal and state laws as described in the Convention constitution.
● The Executive Director needs to be a self-motivated, spiritually mature, driven, goal-oriented leader who seeks to equip others to fulfill the Great Commission.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
● The Executive Director reports directly to the Executive Board of the Convention.
● The Executive Director serves as the principal staff advisor and ex-officio member to the Executive Board and all Convention committees.
● The Executive Director provides direct supervision to all staff.
● The Executive Director liaises with Southern Baptist entity leaders at the associational, state, and national levels.
