Job Title: Executive Pastor Reports To: Senior Pastor Direct Reports: administrative staff, ministry directors, operations team, and other pastoral staff. Position SummaryThe Executive Pastor serves as the primary administrative and operational leader, implementing the vision and direction of the Senior Pastor. This role focuses on ensuring efficient day-to-day operations, fostering staff and volunteer development, and aligning all ministries with gospel-centered goals. With a pastoral heart, the Executive Pastor provides leadership in program management, missions, and outreach, while supporting the Senior Pastor. Key Responsibilities 1. Oversight of Day-to-Day Operations (25-35% of time)– Manage church administration, including day-to-day operations, providing guidance and oversight to relevant committees in accordance with the mission and vision of the church, with the goal of implementing the Senior Pastor's vision.– Evaluate and refine operational systems, processes, and metrics for efficiency, risk management, and resource optimization to align with mission and vision. 2. Program Management of Ministries (20-30% of time)– Provide leadership and oversight to ministry staff and volunteers, including coaching, goal-setting, conflict resolution, and professional development to build a unified, high-performing team aligned with the church's mission.– Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of ministry programs (e.g., family life, student, life groups, discipleship) to ensure alignment with strategic goals and foster spiritual growth.– Lead initiatives to promote collaboration, prevent burnout, and advance ministry effectiveness. 3. Outreach and Missions (15-20% of time)– Develop and oversee local outreach, community engagement, and mercy ministries to address needs and build relationships in the surrounding area.– Provide leadership for global missions, including partnership development, mission trips, and committee oversight to support evangelism efforts.– Coordinate evangelism strategies and special projects to expand the church's impact and disciple-making in the community and beyond. 4. Pastoral Counseling and Preaching (10-15% of time)– Support pastoral staff as needed by helping to provide pastoral care, including short-term counseling, hospital visits, premarital/marital guidance, and support during crises, while maintaining confidentiality and biblical discernment.– Preach periodically, teach classes/seminars, and administer ordinances as needed. 5. Strategic Planning and Other Duties (10-15% of time)– Collaborate with the Senior Pastor on vision casting, goal-setting, and special initiatives (e.g., building expansions, church planting).– Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor, including advisory roles on boards/committees and representing the church externally. Qualifications and Requirements– Spiritual Maturity: Born-again Christian with a high view of Scripture, affirming Baptist Faith & Message, 2000; demonstrates humility, servant leadership, gospel-centered living, and fruits of the Spirit. One qualified to be an elder by 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 standards.– Education: pastoral degree preferred; ordination or licensing desirable.– Experience: 3-5 years in administrative/operational leadership; proven track record in staff management, finance, HR, and ministry oversight.– Skills and Competencies: A humble pastoral heart, willing to earn trust of congregation, Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; high emotional intelligence, problem-solving, and program management.– Personal Fit: Committed to personal growth, family priorities, and community representation; eager team player with a positive, humble attitude.
