The Big Idea
It's an exciting time to be part of Grace Christian Fellowship (GCF). Lead Pastor, Dan Nichols, joined GCF four years ago, and with a solid foundation to build upon, he provides clarity, passion and tremendous energy to the staff team and congregation. Pastor Dan is intentionally connected to pastors and church leaders across the region – he is the President and Founder of the Northeast Collaborative – all of whom are passionate about advancing the gospel and raising up disciples who make disciples. To say there is momentum among this team is an understatement. God is doing something special in this region, and specifically among this GCF community. This congregation has a tremendous rich history, but they are taking new ground as they prepare to launch their first campus in church history in nearby Dryden, NY. Disciple-making is at the heart of GCF's growth numerically and as Christ-followers. This Executive Pastor of Ministries will be one who bleeds authenticity and takes time for people, and at the same time, understands how to trellis under the ever-expanding vine of ministry.
The Church
Affiliation: Non-denominational Attendance: 750+ About: Grace holds two identical weekend services on Sunday at 9 and 10:45 a.m. The environment is laid back and casual in nature. Pastor Dan preaches twice a month on average and is intentionally raising up other preaching voices, including staff and lay leaders.
The Candidate
The right Executive Pastor of Ministries for GCF will be an experienced disciple-maker who understands how to build supporting structures. Relationships will be paramount and there will always be time for people. This will be a person who lives out what they ask of and expect from others. They are mature and approachable in nature. GCF has adopted a creed that is painted on their walls and it rings out constantly in conversations with their people. This pastor will deeply resonate with this creed:

The Location
Cortland, New York, is a small city located in Central New York, approximately 30 minutes south of Syracuse and 30 minutes east of Ithaca. It sits within the picturesque Finger Lakes region. The city is home to SUNY Cortland (State University of New York) and features a mix of residential charm, historic architecture, and local amenities. And while the city of Cortland has a population of over 17,000, this area is best understood by looking at the county of Cortland, which has a population over 45,000. With its central location and access to rural and urban resources, Cortland serves as a regional hub for education, healthcare and community life.
Job Description
The Qualifications
An undergraduate degree in ministry or Bible is preferred, but not required. Individuals who have entered into ministry from the marketplace and have significant ministry experience will be considered. Spiritually and relationally mature. Be a spiritual leader who focuses on the primary points of theology and keeps the Word of God central, allowing secondary issues to remain secondary. Strong communication skills and experience in the strategic implementation of ministry systems will be critical. This will be a pastor who brings a minimum of five to seven years of ministry experience and is experienced in leading paid ministry staff.
