Job Title: Family Life Pastor/Director

Reports To: Executive Pastor

Job Status: Exempt, 40 hours Per Week

Job Description: The Family Life Pastor/Director provides strong organizational leadership of family-focused ministries and events. (1) This position requires someone who has a true passion to reach and minister to young families. (2) This person needs to be a self-starter with a builder mentality. A strong internal drive is a must. (3) This job requires an "above and beyond mentality" and a very strong work ethic, someone who understands growing ministries requires sacrifice. (4) This person needs to be very outgoing and super relational, someone who isn't afraid of pursuing people and establishing immediate points of connection. (5) This person must be a proactive thinker! Someone who can plan activities and events months in advance and bring them to fruition.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions

  1. Leadership Development: Cultivate a healthy, humble culture among staff and volunteers marked by collaboration, trust, and joy in serving the Lord together. Collaborate and meet regularly with ministry directors to ensure alignment with the church's mission, beliefs, and goals. Identify and develop future leaders.
  2. Strategic Oversight: Build new ministries, groups, classes, monthly events, and special conferences related to marriage and parenting to help families connect with the church and grow in a vibrant relationship with the Lord. Create a welcoming, family-friendly experience on the plaza before and after contemporary services.
  3. Financial Stewardship: Work with the Executive Pastor to develop, monitor, and effectively steward the department budgets under your care.
  4. Facilities Use: Develop plans for effective use of the Venue (contemporary worship space), Hub (coffee shop), and other facility space to minister to families, building ministries and teams as needed.
  5. Communication: Champion your ministry and serve as a trusted partner and advisor to the Executive Pastor and Lead pastor to execute the mission, plans, vision, and goals of the church. Ensure effective communication between church staff and congregation.
  6. Relationship Building: Be a familiar face at the church, getting to know people by name, and helping connect newcomers to other people and appropriate ministries. Generate ministry and discipleship opportunities.
  7. Connection: Develop an environment where families are connecting to one another and sharing life together, even outside of the church. Develop ways for families in our community to make initial connections to our church.
  8. Establish: A welcoming, family-friendly experience on the plaza before and during our weekend services. Have a clear presence on the plaza as a point of contact for new families.
  9. Coordinate and Collaborate: With children and youth ministries to develop a yearly schedule of events that keeps families engaged but not overwhelmed. Seek to develop a well-balanced yearly experience for families.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  1. 5-10 years of experience leading a growing ministry.
  2. A bachelor's or master's level degree. MA or M.Div preferred. Ongoing education and training are encouraged.
  3. A proven track record of effective leadership with a solid work ethic and the ability to develop teams and equip others for ministry.
  4. A working knowledge of creative programming and ministry-related technology.

Professional Expectations

  1. Meet the qualifications of an overseer (1 Timothy 3:1-7).
  1. Have a teachable spirit and a willingness to be flexible with other staff and ministries.
  1. Make prudent decisions in public. You represent ACC "on" and "off" campus.
  2. Avoid gossip, slander, or unverified speculation of others.
  3. Zero tolerance for any verbal, physical, emotional, or spiritual abuse.
  4. View your specific ministry as operating within the full body of Christ at ACC, valuing all ages and stages of life.
  5. Agree with the ACC Statement of Faith and support and commit to ACC's ongoing ministries and activities.
  6. Abide by the dress code of the ACC staff handbook.

Spiritual Expectations

  1. Maintain a growing and active relationship with the Lord.
  2. Read regularly and listen to podcasts and sermons to support spiritual growth and knowledge.
  3. Regularly attend at least one service per week at ACC.
  4. Have a mentor / accountability partner.
  5. Be committed to the doctrinal statement of ACC.
