Hilmar First Baptist Church (Central Valley Baptist Convention) is a small rural congregation, looking for a full time pastor. Hilmar is a small unincorporated rural community in California's Central Valley, known for its strong agricultural roots and close-knit community. It's located about 100 miles southeast of San Francisco and 90 miles south of Sacramento, with a population of around 5,000 residents. Our current average Sunday attendance is between 50 – 65 people. We are conservative in nature and hold Scripture to be wholly reliable and authoritative in all manners of life and conduct. We are seeking a pastor to be the spiritual leader of the church, following Southern Baptist teaching. He is responsible to the Lord and the church to primarily proclaim the gospel and teach the Bible. He is also to engage in pastoral care, provide supervisory leadership and administrate the volunteer staff. Our pastor is the only paid staff member. Our ideal candidate would be a true man of God who has some formal training and experience in teaching, preaching, and pastoral ministry. He should have a heart of compassion and zeal to encourage, instruct, challenge, and lead us forward in spiritual growth, individually and corporately. This pastor will need to have a sincere appreciation for the people of California and understand the rhythms of a farming community. We are asking the Lord for a man of wisdom, a sincere believer with Scriptural awareness, and a certain sense of hospitality and empathy toward others.
