Job Description:

Silver Spring CRC is looking for a part-time interim pastor who will work with the Council as we transition to a full-time called pastor. The interim pastor will work with our commissioned pastor of worship, discipleship and communication to plan our weekly worship service. We are flexible in what this might mean, but we would hope the interim pastor would preach at least two or three Sundays per month.

We imagine a part time interim pastor applying their unique gifts to SSCRC for a season starting with three months but continuing as long as required and mutually beneficially. The number of hours, salary, and expectations would be defined prior to your arrival with an informal contract. Pastoral care for our congregation would be a greatly appreciated.

Our spacious parsonage next door is well furnished and ready for occupancy (and guests) and could be the home for our interim pastor. We envision an Interim Pastor using their gifts at least half of the week, or multiple weeks in a row, allowing continued study to advance at your preferred pace. Upper level students, recent graduates, second career pastors, and bivocational pastors are all welcome to apply.

We can also envision an INTERN pastor, and would be eager to walk along students who are nearing the end of their academic training to be a parish pastor.

Position Qualifications:

Flexibility is the key as your gifts and time allow. We are looking for a pastor or intern to shepherd us for a season, which could be a few months before a long-term pastor arrives, or fulfill your desire for a meaningful pastorate in whatever stage you are at in your life and family. Hours, compensation, expectations, etc. are all negotiable. An ordained pastor with preaching gifts is our main hope, but we will consider students who are close to the "finish line" who need structured practice.

Silver Spring CRC is a diverse congregation located off of the I-495 Beltway in a suburban Maryland. The church was founded 57 years ago and has been crucial in the development of the nearby Washington Christian Academy (pre-k through grade 12). We are a congregation of 100 people of all ages from 15 nations. Our worship style can be described as liturgical with blended musical genres. We worship under the same roof with our sister churched: Grace Indonesian CRC and Evangelical Church PS-USA (French Cameroonian). We have many active ministries.
