OverviewThe Kids Minister/Director is responsible for developing and implementing vision and strategy discipleship for all programs, activities, and educational aspects related to children birth-5th grade at The Orchard Church. This role ministers to the spiritual health of kids and their parents, creating environments that facilitate spiritual growth and gospel transformation. The Kids Minister/Director is responsible for ensuring the ministry is aligned with the mission, vision, values, and Priorities of The Orchard Church.DescriptionKey ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and recruitment of Kids ministry staff and volunteers in the development, growth and effectiveness that accomplishes the vision of The Orchard Church.Ensure ministry alignment between PreK and Kids Ministry, overseeing the PreK Coordinator.Provide leadership and oversight for engaging, gospel-centered Kids ministry environments, weekly programming, and ministry activities.Develop discipleship tools for parents to utilize at home.Minister and care for families with various backgrounds and situations.Provide a safe, secure, and warm environment that facilitates learning and encourages spiritual growth for all kids (grades K-5).Lead the selection and implementation of curriculum, ministry resources, and environments that support biblical teaching and spiritual growth.Equip kids to embody the mission of the church and be the church to the community at a young age.Oversee and coordinate alongside volunteers the Mosaic Ministry (ministry for children and adults with special needs). Report to the Discipleship Pastor for development, growth, and management of Kids programming and budgets.Collaborate with the Discipleship Pastor and Next Gen team regarding growth strategies and recommend needs to fulfill these strategies.Ensure all workers understand and adhere to the Minors Policy and Procedures Handbook.Partner with parents and families in the spiritual development of children. Coordinate alongside the Missions Minister/Director to strategically engage local elementary schools and host outreach events for families.Disciple and foster a culture of missions for K-5 kids by teaching biblical principles and providing mission opportunities in the church and the community for families to engage.Other Duties & ResponsibilitiesRecruit, equip, encourage, and develop volunteer leaders to effectively serve within Kids ministry environments and programs.Adhere to teachings of The Orchard Church in personal life and professional ministry.Maintain consistent and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ including regular prayer and Bible study.Maintain wise stewardship of all God's resources.Facilitate volunteer background checks for all Kids volunteers.Oversee systems and processes that support safe, effective, and engaging Kids ministry environments.Collaborate with church staff and ministry leaders to support church-wide discipleship and family engagement initiatives.Other duties as assigned by the Discipleship Pastor.QualificationsThree years of successful experience in family, youth, community, or other related ministerial experience.Ability to teach, lead, and implement strategies that involve the entire congregation.Solid and thorough scriptural foundation and knowledge.Ability to provide sound biblical insights and promote spiritual growth.Optimistic, friendly, and outgoing personality.Ability to easily approach, talk to, and make people feel at ease.Functional level of skill with current publishing technologies, social networking, and ability to use them to communicate.KnowledgeKnowledge of current cultural/social environment of church membership/communityUnderstanding of current events and social media and impact on kidsUnderstanding of budgeting and financial operations of the churchExperience in training, teaching and mentoringSkillsEffective communication with all levels of staff and public, especially with childrenAbility to recruit and equip functional group of volunteersStrong listening skills with ability to interpret and respond calmly to crisis and confidential situationsAbility to manage multiple priorities and eventsProficiency with Google Suite, internet, email, social media and technologyEffective time management and organizational skillsDiversity sensitivity to deal with multiple populations and age groupsStrong work ethic with high energy and enthusiasmPersonal AttributesEnergeticInitiativeTeamworkPlanning and OrganizingService orientationIntegrityTolerance for StressWorking ConditionsNormal office environmentServes diverse populations in caring and loving atmosphereSome activities may be indoors, outdoors and off campus in variety of venuesFlexible schedule as this is 24/7 ministry
