Harvest Ridge is a church that launched on Christmas Eve of 2025 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado! We presently average roughly 160 adults and 50 kids (birth-5th grade) in attendance each Sunday.

Harvest Ridge Church is seeking a relational, organized, and mission-aligned leader to serve as our Director of Kids Ministry. This role provides vision, leadership, and operational oversight for ministry to children (birth-5th grade), ensuring a safe, engaging, and spiritually formative environment for kids, families, and volunteers.

This is a hands-on leadership role in a growing, portable church environment, requiring both strong systems thinking and a heart for developing people and teams. The Minister will lead volunteers, oversee Sunday operations, manage ministry systems, and build a scalable foundation for future growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Ministry Leadership & Sunday Operations

  • Lead and oversee all Kids Ministry environments across Sunday gatherings
  • Ensure classrooms are staffed, prepared, and aligned with ministry standards
  • Provide on-site leadership, volunteer support, and parent engagement
  • Oversee setup, transitions, and teardown in a portable church environment

Volunteer Recruitment & Development

  • Recruit, onboard, train, and retain volunteers and classroom leaders
  • Develop team leads and leadership pathways
  • Coach interns and emerging leaders

Curriculum & Classroom Experience

  • Curate and adapt curriculum across multiple age groups
  • Ensure engaging, developmentally appropriate classroom environments
  • Build systems to support children with additional needs

Systems, Administration & Planning

  • Manage Planning Center systems (Services, Check-Ins, Events, Forms, People)
  • Oversee scheduling, communication, workflows, and reporting
  • Maintain safety policies, background checks, and compliance

Operations, Events & Growth

  • Manage supplies, environments, and ministry budget
  • Coordinate childcare for church-wide events
  • Support camps, seasonal programming, and outreach initiatives
  • Build scalable systems for future ministry growth

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Be or Become member of Harvest Ridge Church
  • A daily pursuit of Christian maturity
  • Agree with and live in alignment with Harvest Ridge statement of faith
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with teams, volunteers, or ministry environments
  • Strong organizational, operational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Experience coordinating systems, schedules, and people
  • Commitment to child safety, policies, and compliance
  • Alignment with Harvest Ridge Church's mission, values, and leadership culture
  • Experience in children's ministry, education, or family-focused environments

Preferred

  • Experience developing leaders, volunteers, or interns
  • Familiarity with curriculum planning and classroom environments

DIRECTOR OF KIDS MINISTRY

Role Overview

The Director of Kids Ministry provides leadership, oversight, and execution for the church's ministry to children from nursery through elementary age, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate environment for children, volunteers, and families.

This role includes responsibility for volunteer leadership, curriculum planning, Sunday operations, safety compliance, classroom systems, ministry administration, budget oversight, special needs support, and growth planning within a portable church environment. This position also includes staff collaboration and leadership development through the oversight, coaching, and development of Kids Ministry interns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all weekly Kids Ministry operations across Sunday gatherings
  • Ensure classrooms are staffed, prepared, and aligned with ministry standards
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and retain volunteers and classroom leaders
  • Develop team leads and leadership pathways within Kids Ministry
  • Develop and oversee support systems for children with additional needs, including family communication, classroom accommodations, and volunteer buddy support
  • Curate and adapt weekly curriculum for each classroom and age group
  • Oversee classroom setup, transitions, reset, and teardown in a portable church environment
  • Manage Planning Center systems, including Services, Check-Ins, Events, Forms, People, and volunteer workflows
  • Maintain safety policies, background checks, training requirements, and incident protocols
  • Manage classroom inventory, supplies, technology, and annual ministry budget
  • Coordinate childcare support for church-wide events and ministry initiatives
  • Lead or support seasonal Kids Ministry events, camps, and community outreach opportunities as the ministry grows
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and monthly leadership check-ins
  • Develop scalable systems to support ministry growth, expanded classrooms, and future ministry opportunities

Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate is a strong organizational and relational leader with demonstrated experience leading teams, volunteers, or ministry environments. Experience working with children, families, educational settings, or ministry leadership is strongly preferred. This individual should be highly detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple moving pieces at once, particularly in a portable and fast-changing environment. They should be comfortable curating and adapting curriculum for multiple age groups, building systems and processes, supporting children with additional needs, and using technology platforms such as Planning Center or similar tools. Leadership maturity, strong communication skills, and the ability to recruit, equip, and retain volunteers and interns are essential, along with the ability to thoughtfully manage parent and volunteer expectations and support seasonal events or community outreach opportunities as the ministry grows. Preferred candidates will bring leadership experience in children's ministry, education, team development, or operational management, along with clear alignment with the church's mission, values, and ministry philosophy.

Success in this role looks like classrooms that are consistently staffed, prepared, and welcoming each week, with volunteers and interns who feel equipped, supported, and developed over time. Weekly curriculum is thoughtfully curated and adapted for each classroom, and ministry systems such as Planning Center remain organized, proactive, and scalable. Families and guests experience a safe and well-run environment, including those with children who need additional support, and systems are in place to help every child feel welcomed, cared for, and able to participate fully. Special events, childcare coordination, seasonal camps, community outreach opportunities, and portable church logistics run smoothly, while the ministry continues to grow effectively through leadership development and future expansion.
