Kids Ministry DirectorBuck Run Baptist Church — Frankfort, KY
Status: Part-time, 32–36 hours/week Reports to: Next Gen Pastor Works alongside: Kids Ministry Director (co-director role)
About the RoleBuck Run Kids Ministry serves children from birth through 5th grade, partnering with parents to help kids know and love Jesus. The Kids Ministry Director shares responsibility for the day-to-day life of this ministry — the systems that make it run well, and the relationships that make it matter. This is a hands-on role that combines administrative leadership with direct, relational discipleship of kids and volunteers.
This is a strong opportunity for someone early in ministry who wants to grow in both the practical skills of ministry leadership and the relational work of discipleship.
Key ResponsibilitiesAdministration & Operations
- Manage the administrative functions of Kids Ministry, including records, communications, and supply/resource needs
- Schedule and coordinate volunteers across all Kids Ministry environments and services
- Arrange classes, rooms, and curriculum logistics for each service and program
- Plan, coordinate, and execute Kids Ministry events throughout the year
Volunteer Leadership
- Recruit, train, and support Kids Ministry volunteers
- Build relationships with volunteers that encourage consistency and growth in their own discipleship
- Ensure volunteer scheduling and processes align with Buck Run's Child & Volunteer Protection Policy
Discipleship & Relational Ministry
- Engage directly and relationally with kids in the ministry, becoming a known and trusted presence
- Model and teach biblical truth in age-appropriate ways
- Partner with parents as the primary disciple-makers of their children
- Help kids take steps toward knowing and following Jesus
Collaboration
- Serve alongside the other Kids Ministry Director as a shared leadership team
- Work under the direction of the Next Gen Pastor, contributing to the broader vision for Next Gen ministries (Kids and Student Ministry)
- Coordinate with other ministry areas and staff as needed for events and church-wide initiatives
Qualifications
- A growing, professed follower of Jesus Christ, in agreement with Buck Run's statement of faith (Baptist Faith & Message 2000) and mission.
- A demonstrated love for children and a heart for discipleship
- Strong organizational and administrative skills; comfortable managing multiple moving parts
- Ability to recruit, lead, and encourage volunteers
- Clear, proactive communication skills
- Willingness to complete Buck Run's background check and Child & Volunteer Protection Policy training
- Prior ministry or children's ministry experience is a plus, but not required — we are glad to develop the right person in this role
Schedule & Logistics
- Part-time, 32–36 hours per week
- Regular presence required on Sundays and for scheduled Kids Ministry programming/events
- Some evening and weekend work required for events and volunteer coordination
Reporting & Team StructureThis role reports to the Next Gen Pastor and works in close partnership with the other Kids Ministry Director, sharing responsibility for the ministry as co-leaders under the Next Gen Pastor's oversight.
