Kingdom Kids Coordinator

Position Summary:The Kingdom Kids Director faithfully serves as the leader of the children's ministry of Citizens of Heaven Church ("COH") through developing relationships with volunteers, children, and their families. The primary responsibilities of the Kingdom Kids Director fall into two categories: (1) Volunteer Coordination: ensuring the safety of children in Kingdom Kids by training, equipping, and scheduling volunteers in accordance with COH policies; and (2) Family Discipleship: facilitating the spiritual growth and development of our children by selecting, supplementing, and/or preparing curricula used for teaching the various age groups on Sunday morning (including related worship, crafts, and other supporting activities), training volunteer teachers and/or worship leaders, and developing materials and resources to equip parents to disciple their children at home.

Because the position's primary responsibilities fall into two distinct categories, the role could be filled by either one-full time employee or two part-time employees, each responsible for one of the two categories.

Qualifications and Qualities:

Biblical QualificationsThe role of Kingdom Kids Director at COH is most analogous to the Biblical role of Deacon, requiring that the Kingdom Kids Director must meet the qualifications for Deacons as enumerated in scripture, specifically in 1 Timothy 3:8-13 and Acts 6:1-7. To that end, the Kingdom Kids Director must be:Above reproach;A "one-woman man" or "one-man woman";Sincere, not dishonest or hypocritical;Dignified and worthy of respect;Not given to drunkenness;Not greedy for dishonest gain;A good manager of his/her own household;Of good reputation;Able to hold the deep truths of the faith;Tested; andFull of the Spirit and wisdom.Additional Qualities

In addition to the qualifications for all Deacons, the Kingdom Kids Director must also demonstrate the following qualities: Alignment with the mission, vision, and values of COH in submission to the Elders and through membership in good standing at COH;Expressed passion and calling for serving God by serving children in the context of the local church;Ability to coordinate, manage, and train a large number of volunteers (applicable to Volunteer Coordination responsibilities);Biblical understanding and technical ability necessary to teach children, participate in the discipleship of their families, and train other teachers to do the same (applicable to Family Discipleship responsibilities);Personal and professional discipline and dependability;Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines;Self-starter who is organized and able to work on multiple projects at the same time; andCollaborative member of the staff, able to participate in building a healthy staff culture through encouragement and Biblical conflict resolution.

Responsibilities:General ResponsibilitiesOversee and provide leadership to all regularly scheduled Kingdom Kids activities. Activities include Sunday worship gatherings and other special events;Set and maintain a vision for Kingdom Kids in conjunction with the supervising Elder;Remain present during Sunday worship gatherings so that children and their families can get to know the Kingdom Kids Director, while participating in one service as a member of COH (this could be divided among two part-time employees);Exemplify core expectations of a member of COH as enumerated in the Membership Covenant;Fulfill all obligations and responsibilities of a staff member at COH, including attending staff meetings, managing the ministry's budget, and adhering to timelines and best practices; andOther duties as assigned or requested by the supervising Elder.Volunteer CoordinationEnsure that every Kingdom Kids event is well-staffed with a sufficient number of trained and equipped volunteers who adhere to all safety and security protocols;Ensure that every volunteer is trained and continually reminded of all safety and security protocols;Continually recruit, train, motivate, and retain volunteer workers through ongoing communication;Cultivate a volunteer culture in which last-minute cancellations are rare. In the event of cancellations, ensure that either all safety procedures are followed or, if a lack of volunteers prohibits safety procedures from being followed, communicate that Kingdom Kids for the event is unavailable.

Family DiscipleshipDistribute a monthly newsletter to parents detailing planned curriculum, memory verses and Bible passages, and tips for how parents can prepare their child(ren) for worship.Communicate with parents on a regular, ongoing basis for feedback and to participate in the discipleship of their families; Continually recruit, train, motivate, and retain volunteer teachers through ongoing communication;Develop or select curricula for all grade levels used to teach kids during Sunday morning worship, including Bible study, worship music, crafts, and activities;Oversee training and development of kids' teachers and/or worship leaders.
