Pastor Profile:
Preaching/Teaching
We are accustomed to Gospel focused, expository preaching/teaching style that also incorporates exegetical research. The lead pastor’s speaking schedule is on a regular basis and would include a minimum of 44 Sundays per year.
Shepherding/Nurturing
The lead pastor is expected to care for, counsel, and spend time with members in crisis, make hospital visitations, and visit with new members, although we have a plurality of Elders, Team of Deacons, and specific ministries designed to care for others as not to overburden any one individual and, therefore, do not expect him to do this alone. We do, however, expect the Lead Pastor to meet regularly with leadership both one on one and corporately. Matthew 25:35-40; Acts 20:28
Leadership/Administration
The Lead Pastor, supported by the Team of Elders, is the primary change agent in our church. Our expectation is for him to maintain a strong, united relationship with all leadership; to collaborate with the Elders; to lead with humility, love, patience, and gentleness; to preach/teach, empower, equip, counsel, and guide our leadership team; to minister to the Body through care, counsel, and prayer; to administer the ordinances often.
Church / Community Profile:
Broadalbin Baptist Church, located in the rural community of Broadalbin, NY, has had an established presence for over 250 years. We are a local, independent church of 200+ attendees who exist to glorify God above all endeavors. We are a blend of young adults, families, and retired couples/individuals.
• We are an Elder led, congregational church body who operate under the leadership of a plurality of Elders directed by our Lead Pastor. Our team of Deacons support the Pastors and tend to the physical needs of our members. Our board of Trustees maintain the finances, and building & grounds for the church
• Our main philosophy of ministry is to provide Gospel driven teaching/preaching, and to train & equip others to serve and honor Christ. We aim to carry out the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20), to make and mature disciples, to promote authentic community/fellowship, corporate worship, and encourage sharing the Good News.
• We are FOR loving people and presenting a true Gospel. We are AGAINST conforming to our culture or watering down the Gospel for acceptance.
• Our current ministries include: Men’s/Women’s ministry, Youth ministry, Children’s church, Worship Team ministry, Life Groups, Outreach, Care, and Hospitality.
• Our strengths include sound, doctrinal teaching, caring for needs, various events.
• Our weaknesses include communication, evangelism, community outreach, and too few individuals doing too much of the work.
• One of the challenges we face over the next 5-10 yrs is a deteriorating building with limited ability to handle growth.
• A majority of our congregation find change difficult but are much more receptive when adequately informed of reasons change is needed.
• Our worship music style is a blend of both contemporary and traditional.
• Our expectations of a lead pastor include one who is a good expositor, excels at communication, emphasizes care, has a presence, and knows people on a personal level.
• We support both local and global missionaries whose efforts include evangelism, making disciples, and planting churches.
• While not all lead pastors at BBC have served long-term, our two most recent have held this position for 10+ yrs.
