Lead Pastor

Job Overview

WHO WE ARE:

Community Bible Fellowship Church (CBFC) is an evangelical, Bible-believing, Gospel-centered church in Red Hill, Pa. It is a congregation of the Bible Fellowship Church (bfc.org), a small Reformed, evangelical denomination with roots in this region and a passion for spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Established in 1991, CBFC is a congregation that aims to keep growing. We currently have a Sunday morning congregation of about 220. We plan to continue to grow and reach more souls for His Kingdom.

We have affinities with the writings of present day leaders like John Piper, Kevin DeYoung, Matt Chandler, and D.A. Carson; with past leaders like J.I. Packer, Tim Keller, R.C. Sproul, Jonathan Edwards and C.S. Lewis; and with organizations like The Gospel Coalition, Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals, and Desiring God.

WHAT WE SEEK:

CBFC seeks a lead pastor who is absorbed with the Gospel and can communicate it effectively. We seek a shepherd who can lead believers to maturity through deepened belief in the Gospel and instruction in God's Word; a man who is skilled in handling Scripture; a man who loves the doctrines of sovereign grace; a man who passionately pursues holiness; a man who loves to share Jesus with others.

The elders envision a multi-pastor church, so the lead pastor should be a man who can work with and mentor an associate pastor as well as provide leadership to the board of elders.

SUMMARY:

CBFC is a church on a mission. We aim to proclaim the Gospel (Matt. 28:18-20), preserve the truth (2 Tim. 1:13-14), love each other (Rom. 12:10), and bring glory to God (1 Cor. 10:31). We seek a lead pastor who can guide us faithfully in these things.

The Bible Fellowship Church has procedures and policies that guide the pastoral search process.

The Faith and Order (bfc.org > About Us > Faith and Order > Principles of Order) spells out qualifications for Elders and Ministers in Article 204. This article stresses an elder's spiritual qualifications (1 Tim. 3, Titus 1, 1 Peter 5) and the expectations for what the BFC terms "minister," i.e., the lead elder among elders. A candidate for minister at CBFC, accordingly, must work with the BFC's credentialing committees and affirm the denomination's Articles of Faith (also available under About Us at bfc.org).

COMPENSATION:

The position is full-time (40 hours per week). Salary is based on qualifications and experience (greater than $75,000). Benefits include health insurance, contribution to a retirement fund, vacation days, bonus and housing allowance.

Soli Deo Gloria!
