First City Church in Bellevue, Nebraska is seeking qualified applicants for the role of Lead Pastor.
First City Church exists to glorify God by making disciples, planting churches, and working for the good of our city.
Since planting ten years ago, First City has grown to more than 375 people in Sunday attendance, including around 180 children, with more than 500 people participating weekly in Gospel Communities. We are located in Bellevue, Nebraska, a growing, family-friendly city shaped by strong neighborhood life, military presence, and deep community roots.
We are seeking a Lead Pastor who meets the biblical qualifications for pastoral ministry, joyfully affirms First City's doctrine and philosophy of ministry, and is able to lead with theological clarity, pastoral wisdom, humility, and courage.
Job Description
The Lead Pastor will serve as a preaching and teaching elder with primary responsibility for the preaching ministry, pastoral leadership, and organizational oversight of First City Church.
Primary Responsibilities
The Lead Pastor will:
- Faithfully preach gospel-centered, expository sermons and provide theological leadership for the church.
- Devote significant time to prayer, study of Scripture, and shepherding the congregation.
- Oversee corporate worship gatherings, including the preaching ministry and observance of the sacraments.
- Provide spiritual and directional leadership to staff, elders, deacons, and ministry leaders.
- Equip members for discipleship, service, mission, and leadership within the church.
- Oversee church operations, membership processes, budgeting, member meetings, and policy alignment in partnership with church leadership.
- Build healthy relationships with other churches, networks, and community organizations for the sake of gospel ministry and mission.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will meet the biblical qualifications for pastoral ministry, demonstrate mature Christian character, faithfully handle God's Word, lead with humility and wisdom, communicate clearly, handle conflict in a godly manner, and joyfully affirm First City Church's doctrine, mission, values, and ministry philosophy.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; graduate-level theological degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of pastoral ministry experience.
- Experience preaching gospel-centered, expository sermons.
- Experience leading staff and elder teams.
