Logic School Teacher: Veritas Academy
General Information
Job Title:
Logic School Teacher: Veritas Academy
Job Description:
David Hicks once said, "The goal of a teacher is to lead people toward an objective they did not know they wanted to reach."i We're seeker a teacher who loves the right things, in the right way, to the right degree: a lover of God who pursues the ordo amoris.
We're looking for the paradigm shifter, the teacher who's walking backwards into the future— anchored to the past to understand the present. We don't want the "sweet" teacher, but the sage. Classical education is a conscience return to the ancient way of educating: emphasizing the liberal arts, the Ideal Type, virtue, reality, the Great Books, and the Great Conversation. Teachers should only apply if they love learning.
Christian education acknowledges the Lordship of Christ over everything. Every triangle, every poem that was penned, or king that was coronated—came about by the will of our Lord Jesus Christ. We're teaching students to think like Christians.
The work is rigorous, the wages are meager, the conversations are difficult, the danger is constant, and the threat from the enemy is incessant. Death to self is required, resurrection is certain, and glory guaranteed.
When fully trained, every disciple will become like his master (Lk 6:40). Inevitably, our students will become like you. So, you must become like God.
The Logic School teacher will teacher four to five courses from 6th to 9th grade. Some anticipated course openings are:
• Early Modern Literature & Early Modern History
• Modern Literature & Modern History
• American Literature & American History
• Western Civilization II
• Intro and Advanced Logic
• Bible Survey
