Job Overview

Sovereign Life Fellowship is a growing church in Longview, Texas, committed to the faithful preaching of Scripture, meaningful church membership, and intentional discipleship within the life of the local church. We have experienced steady growth over the last three years, currently averaging approximately140 in weekly Sunday morning attendance.

We are seeking a full-time Minister of Family Discipleship to provide leadership and oversight for children's, youth, and adult discipleship ministries. This position is part of our long-term vision for cultivating a unified discipleship culture within our body of believers.

The Minister of Family Discipleship is a ministerial role designed to strengthen the church's approach to discipleship by aligning age-based ministries around a shared theological vision. Rather than operating siloed programs, this minister will focus on equipping parents, training volunteers, and fostering intergenerational unity within the body.

This role is intended to develop toward an elder position, subject to meeting biblical qualifications and affirmation by the elders and congregation.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee a unified philosophy of discipleship for children, students, and adults
  • Develop and oversee volunteers and leaders in children, student and adult ministries
  • Function as primary leader of the student ministry – teaching Wednesday night Bible study, engaging students in settings outside the church, planning events etc.
  • Equip parents as the primary disciplers of their children and students
  • Assist in the coordination and development of adult discipleship efforts i.e., home groups, topical studies and training
  • Encourage integration of children and students into the broader life of the church
  • Work closely with the elders and deacons in ministry planning and pastoral care

Qualifications

  • A credible profession of faith in Jesus Christ and evidence of godly character
  • A clear commitment to vocational ministry
  • Agreement with the Sovereign Life Fellowship Statement of Faith and Membership Covenant
  • Meets, or is progressing toward meeting, the biblical qualifications for elders (1 Timothy 3:1–7; Titus 1:5–9)
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, lead, and disciple others
  • Theological training (completed or in progress) and/or ministry experience preferred

Compensation

  • Full-time position
  • Compensation Range – $60,000 – $85,000
  • Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications
