Minister of Senior Adults

Job description:
Minister to the church's senior adult members focused on identifying, understanding, and addressing senior adult needs, challenges and priorities. The Minister of Senior Adults is a part-time ministerial role (15 – 20 hours per week) responsible for providing pastoral care, leadership on programming, and opportunities for spiritual development for adults age 60 and older.
Responsibilities:
1. Directs, organizes, plans, and facilitates the monthly B.A.L.L. club meetings. Works through existing lay leadership to effectively continue the program.
2. Serve as key resource for the spiritual and ministry needs of senior adults in the church. Provide opportunities for spiritual growth including Bible studies, speakers, small group activities, etc.
3. Provide support as needed for ongoing senior adult activities. Facilitate the inclusion of senior adults in churchwide mission opportunities and senior adult-focused service opportunities.
4. Directs, organizes, and plans recreational activities coordinating with the church calendar.
5. Conducts, leads, and delegates prospect visits, ministry visits, hospital visitation, homebound members, and other needs specific to the designated ministry, including visits assigned by the Senior Pastor. Personal visits in homes, hospitals, senior care, and nursing facilities.
6. Bereavement ministry for Senior Adults, including ministry following a death; helping to plan funeral services and participating as the family requests, often in partnership with other ministers, including the Senior Pastor.
7. Attend all services, outreach, special events, and any other church activities planned on the calendar.
8. Maintain regular working hours; comply with church policies and procedures. Attendance at the weekly church staff meeting, otherwise no office time is expected.
9. Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Preferred hours:
8am to noon, Monday – Thursday. Flexibility to change when needed.
Requirements:
· The candidate must have a mature and growing demonstrated personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
· College degree preferred but not required. Previously ordained minister preferred.
· A good organizer with good communication skills.
· A strong work ethic, a collaborative spirit regarding existing staff, and a love for senior adult ministry.
· Must be or become an active participant at Woodridge Baptist Church.
· Personable, approachable, and available.
· Compassionate and caring for believers and non-believers.
· Communicates and acts with integrity.
· Initiates, organizes, leads, and delegates effectively. Encouraging and supportive.
· Ministers are expected to tithe.
· Ministers and families should be involved in the church Life Group program.
· Experience in the areas of local church ministry or closely related programs is desired.
Reporting Relationship:
The Minister of Senior Adults is accountable to the church body and the Personnel Team, directly reporting to the Senior Pastor.
