Job Description: Minister of the Next Generation
Position Purpose: The Minister of the Next Generation is a full time, multi-ministry focused role that will be responsible for the development of a Christ-centered youth and young adult group ministry with regular meetings, activities, and mission projects that will help accomplish the mission of Pittsboro Baptist Church as they reach the lost, disciple the Church, and love others. The Minister of the Next Generation must be a committed, mature Christian who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This position requires a balance between both ministry focuses, with opportunities to excel in other areas if desired.
Supervision: The Minister of the Next Generation is supervised by and directly responsible to the Senior Pastor.
Qualifications:
Upholds the moral and professional responsibilities stated in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-7Aligns with Pittsboro Baptist church mission and beliefs, as well as the Southern Baptist Convention.Maintains a close walk with God through personal study and prayer life allowing Him to accomplish His desire for the youth and young adults of Pittsboro Baptist Church.Fully prays for, honors, and supports the philosophy of Pittsboro Baptist Church and its leadership team. Must believe the Bible to be the Word of God and the ultimate authority in all matters pertaining to the individual's responsibility before God. Possesses the ability to work efficiently and effectively in team situations, as well as the ability to work independently.Possesses solid time management skills and organizational abilities, as well as the ability to coordinate several activities at once and to quickly analyze and resolve specific problems.Possesses the ability to communicate and establish effective working relationships with all levels of people, conveying a genuine concern for their needs and a desire to provide exceptional service.Should be creative, have a passion for youth; be high energy, hardworking, and can motivate others. Should be detail oriented, flexible, and decisive with the ability to organize and coordinate work, set priorities, and meet deadlines.While ministry education is not a requirement for a calling into vocational ministry, the ideal candidate should reflect a desire to continue in education through seminary, Bible college, trainings, and conferences.
Basic Job Description (Next Generation):
Maintain and grow Christ-centered youth and young adult groups with regular Bible studies, worship services, activities, and mission projects.Have a notable presence in the community through involvement in local schools and community events. Have regularly scheduled hangouts and devotions to keep the youth consistently engaged with the church and walking with the Lord through counsel, fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and evangelism. Develop policies and procedures for the youth and young adult ministry. Develop outreach activities outside of the immediate congregation to impact our youth and young adult organizations.Be readily available to counsel and/or offer referral to youth and their parents regarding youth and parenting issues.Minister to the families of Pittsboro Baptist Church through counsel, prayer, encouragement, visitation, Biblical knowledge, and the necessary outreach to ensure families stay committed and connected to the church body. Communicate regularly and effectively with parents of youth and young adults regarding schedules, goals, mission opportunities, upcoming events. Be active in Vacation Bible School and youth summer camps.Be responsible for planning and directing activities, which are appropriately planned in advance of activity. Also providing a copy to the Ministry Assistant for promotion in bulletins and other advertising.Be responsible for a budget of monthly and yearly expenses, making known all costs prior to the activities and approved by the Finance Committee. Recruit and train volunteers who work with youth and young adults and actively seek parents and committees to help carry out activities as needed. Keeping these individuals as well as other church members informed as to what is going on and how they need to help. (I.e. calendar of events needs for events and promotion of events). Visitation with families of youth and young adults in their respective homes.Participate in quarterly church conferences and provide updates to the church on youth and young adults ministry activities and goals.Actively integrate youth and young adults into activities of church life at Pittsboro Baptist. Envision and equip them to lead and to serve here, now and in the future.Comply and adhere to Pittsboro Baptist Church bylaws and employee manual.Work cooperatively with all other members of the church staff, effectively uniting with and complementing other church ministries.
