Minister of WorshipPosition Focus: Worship Leadership, Music Ministry, and Staff-Level Church Leadership
Position SummaryThe Minister of Worship (Full Time) is responsible for leading, planning, and executing God-centered worship that exalts Jesus and invites the Holy Spirit. This responsibility includes worship with spiritual depth, musical excellence, and organizational integrity. This role serves as a staff leader who partners closely with the Senior Pastor and church leadership to support the mission, unity, and spiritual health of the congregation through worship and music ministry.
Primary Responsibilities1. Worship Planning & LeadershipPlan weekly congregational worship services in partnership with the Senior Pastor
Select music aligned with sermon themes, seasons, and the church's theological philosophy
Lead congregational singing and worship during services
Maintain a thoughtful balance between contemporary and traditional worship styles
Provide musical leadership for all regular and special worship services
2. Music Ministry Oversight
Direct and rehearse praise teams, choirs, and instrumental ensembles
Recruit, schedule, and develop volunteer musicians and vocalists
Provide musical leadership for special services (holidays, revivals, concerts, special events)
Coordinate and provide appropriate music for weddings, funerals, and other church-related services (music-only role)
Oversee the organization, maintenance, and stewardship of music resources, instruments, and materials
3. Technical & Audio/Visual Coordination
Prepare weekly multimedia worship presentations (lyrics, slides, video, and audio elements)
Work closely with the AV team to ensure smooth execution of in-person and online worship services
Provide basic sound/media setup support related to rehearsals and services
Provide annual training and leadership development for AV volunteers
4. Spiritual Leadership (Within Worship Context)Serve as a visible worship leader with spiritual maturity, humility, and credibility
Pray for and spiritually encourage worship and AV volunteers
Model Christ-centered leadership in attitude, preparation, and service
Support the mission, values, and leadership of the church through worship ministry
5. Staff-Level Leadership & Church GovernanceServe as a consistent member of Church Council and other committees as assigned
Lead and maintain a Church Music Committee or Council
Participate in broader church planning and staff collaboration beyond worship
Support and assist other ministries and staff as needed for churchwide initiatives
Submit timely reports, budget requests, and planning materials as required
6. Volunteer Development & DiscipleshipProvide ongoing leadership development for music and AV volunteers
Conduct regular one-on-one check-ins, mentoring, and encouragement
Teach and coach members in vocal and instrumental skills as part of ministry development
Develop and implement strategic recruitment and enlistment plans for worship and AV ministries
Foster a healthy, spiritually grounded volunteer culture
7. Denominational & Associational EngagementRepresent and support the church in denominational and associational initiatives related to worship and music ministry
Remain informed of current worship trends, resources, and best practices within the broader church community
Participate in conferences, trainings, and continuing education as appropriate
