Minister to Children and Families

First Baptist Church of Madison is seeking a Minister to Children and Families—a full-time, pastoral leader who will help shape the spiritual foundation of kids from birth through 5th grade. Serving under the leadership of the Senior Pastor and Family Equipping Pastor, this role builds a clear, compelling children's ministry vision, strengthens family discipleship, and equips leaders and volunteers to create environments where children can know Jesus and grow in Him.

Key Responsibilities

The Minister to Children and Families develops and executes a comprehensive discipleship strategy for children (birth–5th grade) that complements the church's overall family discipleship plan and connects to student ministry; leads and supports volunteer teams and supervises part-time children's associates/interns; recruits, trains, and equips volunteers for ongoing programming, camps, special events, and VBS; selects and evaluates age-appropriate curriculum and resources for preschool/elementary Bible fellowship groups and midweek ministry; equips parents to serve as the primary disciplers of their children; provides pastoral care and support to children and families in both crisis and celebration; partners with the communications team to promote children's ministry with clarity and consistency; coordinates children's needs within church-wide planning (including childcare for calendared events); and partners with the Kid's@First Children's Center leadership on space coordination, family outreach, and annual budgeting.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will be a born-again believer with ildren's and family ministry; align with Southern Baptist doctrine, including the Baptist Faith and Message 2000; bring strong leadership, teaching, and administrative skills with proven ability to build teams and systems; communicate well and work collaboratively across ministries; demonstrate a shepherding heart for children and families; and either hold (or be working toward) a degree in Christian Education or a master's degree from a Southern Baptist seminary (ministry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree). Membership at First Baptist Church of Madison (or willingness to become a member) is expected.
