POSITION SUMMARY

The Mother's Day Out Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and oversight for the MDO Ministry, ensuring a safe, nurturing, organized, and mission-aligned environment for children and families.

Mother's Day Out is not only a program for early Christian education but also an intentional outreach ministry of Grace Bible Church. The program serves as a relational entry point for families in our community, helping them experience the love of Christ through environments characterized by care, excellence, trust, and meaningful connection.

This role leads MDO staff, manages program operations, and ensures the program reflects the values and culture of Grace Bible Church. The Coordinator must integrate operational excellence with relational warmth, recognizing that every interaction with children and parents contributes to fulfilling the church's mission of connecting with others for the life-changing pursuit of Jesus Christ.

MINISTRY PURPOSE

The Mother's Day Out Ministry exists to connect with families for the life-changing pursuit of Jesus Christ. As as an outreach ministry, MDO helps families experience the love, care, and truth of Jesus Christ through a safe and nurturing early childhood environment.

The program serves as an accessible first step for many families who may not yet be connected to the church, creating opportunities for trust-building relationships that can lead to deeper spiritual engagement over time.

Through consistent care, clear communication, and Christ-centered leadership, the ministry seeks to:

  • build relational bridges with families in the community
  • create positive first impressions of the church
  • support parents during formative years of family life
  • demonstrate the love and character of Christ through everyday interactions
  • contribute to the long-term discipleship pathway of families

MINISTRY AREA

Family / Spiritual Formation

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

This position shall be directly accountable to the Kids Ministry Director. There is also extended accountability to the Executive Pastor and Spiritual Formation Pastor. This position will have contact with church attendees, paid staff, parents, and outside vendors.

SUPPORT TEAM:

The MDO team consists of the MDO Coordinator, MDO Administrative Assistant, MDO Teachers, and MDO Teaching Assistants.

Job Description

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Leadership and Oversight

  • Provide leadership for all aspects of the MDO program
  • Ensure classrooms operate in a safe, structured, and caring manner
  • Maintain a healthy, positive culture among teachers and staff
  • Establish annual program goals and improvements
  • Maintain program handbook(s) for staff and parents
  • Ensure alignment with church mission and values

Staff Leadership and Development

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and train teachers and assistants
  • Ensure background checks and safety training are completed
  • Provide coaching and regular communication
  • Lead periodic staff meetings
  • Maintain substitute teacher pipeline
  • Create schedules and classroom assignments

Administrative Management

  • Manage registration and enrollment
  • Maintain student records
  • Coordinate tuition collection processes
  • Manage supply ordering
  • Maintain program calendar (48 weeks)
  • Ensure compliance with policies
  • Maintain incident documentation

Spiritual and Ministry Alignment

  • Demonstrates alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Grace Bible Church
  • Understands the role of early childhood ministry as an important relational connection point for families
  • Able to represent the church with warmth, professionalism, and Christlike character
  • Able to maintain appropriate spiritual sensitivity when interacting with families from diverse backgrounds

Parent Communication and Care

  • Build positive relationships with parents
  • Communicate schedules and expectations clearly
  • Address parent concerns professionally
  • Maintain confidentiality

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure classrooms operate according to safety standards
  • Maintain emergency procedures
  • Coordinate with Safety Team and Facilities Director
  • Ensure child protection policies are followed
  • Conduct periodic drills as required

Ministry Alignment and Staff Integration

  • Participate in appropriate staff meetings
  • Maintain alignment with church mission and values
  • Support Next Gen initiatives as appropriate
  • Collaborate with Kids Ministry leadership

Schedule Expectations

  • 32 hours per week
  • 48 weeks per year
  • On-site presence during program hours
  • Additional administrative hours as needed
  • Occasional evening meetings possible

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • Experience in childcare, early childhood education, or program leadership
  • Experience leading teams preferred
  • Experience working with families preferred

Decision-Making Authority

The MDO Coordinator has authority to:

  • make MDO Teacher hiring decisions
  • make classroom assignments
  • manage scheduling decisions
  • manage supply purchasing within budget
  • address routine parent concerns

Strategic changes and policy updates occur in collaboration with supervising leadership.

Work Environment

Primarily on-site in classrooms and office settings.

May require standing, walking, lifting classroom materials (up to 30 lbs).

The MDO Coordinator is expected to support the mission, vision, and values of the church and operate within the leadership structure of a staff-led, elder-guarded, congregationally gifted church.
